If this was a beauty contest which would you declare the winner?

For me the Seamaster takes it. It looks more like a luxury watch than the other two, and has a colour matched date wheel.

Those are definitely good points.🤩

I can't force my vote. These are tool watches. Not ugly, but just not the type of contest that muscle guys appear in a beauty pageant contest 😅

Surely one of them is above the rest in the looks department, even if the category is not to your taste? If you had to own a divewatch, which would you pick? Pretend you don't know the price or specs of each one and basing your decision on looks alone. ☺️

Fair point!

I will pick 👉 James bond Seamaster Diver all day long !

It's way too sexy 😉

I'm not sure a watch costing thousands of dollars with white gold hands and indexes really counts as a "tool watch". It would be like saying a Gucci bomber jacket is "work" clothing...

Good argument!

Well, I look at the function first and foremost before I look at the embodiment of things.

You don't start a watch design/function with added-on gold hands, diamond inserts, ceramic bezels and the rest of the 'goodies' before you craft one.

Its almost like a chicken and egg question.

I stand for my point 🤣

It started out as a tool watch. I think it is still capable of those duties. But in most cases it probably only sees water from the sink

The Rolex has not only unmatched color for their date, but also the cyclop on the crystal. They really really really want you to know Rolex has a date, ok?

TBH none of them would win a beauty contest unless their manufacturers sat on the jury panel.

They all started as purpose made tool watches and trying to beautify them just ended with tarting them up.

My argument 🤭

So which tart flavor do you prefer? 😁

This one.

If you want to go for the diver's look then get something which doesn't try to pretend it's something else. Get something that makes no excuses for being able to work even if you are elbows deep in a grease barrel.

·

In my opinion Rolex and Seiko look the same, except one has a wart on the crystal 😂 both have plain black dials and kinda minimalistic? Sorry, couldn’t zoom in to see the details without ending up voting 😂

·

Can't like the Cyclops. The Omega looks nice but not the escape value so Seiko wins the beauty contest.

Its also the one I don't lust after. 🤔

·

The Rolex cyclops - nope! 😒

(For this example we are pretending we could just go buy it, so not the real world))

The Seamaster skele-hands, non functional bezel - ug 😒

So..Opinionated me goes LX! 😜

Ti, spring drive and finishing that’s better than the first 2 (have had all 3 together to compare)

Seamaster at 1/2 the price and without the need to sell your soul.

I think the whole notion of a “tool watch” carries little meaning today since there are so many other devices (dive computers, smart phones) that have made the need for a tool watch pointless. It’s a term from the past IMO.

It's easy to forget that not everybody works in an environment that allows, or is safe for phones and computers. People assume that their experience is somehow "average" or the default experience for other people around them.

Tool watches were always very niche. There are more divers, pilots, etc., around today than at the heyday of watches as a tool.

I work in a job that requires a watch as a tool, and I know of many other jobs where a watch is still required as well.

I don’t disagree. However the multitude of choices regarding tool watches has more to do with people’s taste and not because they are being used as attended. Most people (me included) buy a dive watch and then take it off when washing hands. When I do go diving, I never rely on the watch. Anything rough and tumble is left to a G Shock. Have a great day.

The egg comes first…😊

I hardly dare to say it here out loud, but I think the Omega Seamaster Professional is an overrated and quite ugly watch… I know people love them, but I really can’t see the appeal. Ah well, carry on!

·

LX without a doubt. The Seiko grammar of design and masterful proportions (and fonts), Titanium case, Spring Drive movement, GS finishing. It's a beauty and a spec monster, and less expensive than the other two?! 😍

·

The Oris Aquis with cherry red dial looks better in my eyes than all three of them or even a Super Sea Wolf. For these three it would be the Seamaster.

·

Get rid of the helium escape valve and it’s the Omega.

·

I tell ya for all the hate watch critics on YouTube give the Seamaster solely based on the HE Valve it definitely gets the most love ❤️.

·
Stan1965

I choose the Rolex no plastic parts in the watch, I’m not sure the about the omega, they come across as decent watches though

The Seamaster is every bit as good as the Submariner (once you remove the hype) at 1/2 the cost and you don’t have to wait for the call.

Yup for sure are both wonderful watches

·

I can't vote for a winner, so, D. As iconic as the Submariner is, I hate the Mercedes hand. The Omega? The Helium release valve is butt ugly and, truthfully, I'm not a fan of those hands. That particular Seiko? "Fuel" gauges on the dial are a deal breaker for me.

Were it an SPB149, it would be an easy decision. And I'd be several thousand dollars ahead. This would be the winner:
