Glycine Combat Sub

I reviewed the Glycine Combat Sub 42 back in February on my website. I really enjoyed the watch, especially for the price. While it isn't perfect, it's an exceptional value given the movement, finishing, and function.

Have you experienced the Combat Sub? What do you think about it?

Probably my favorite diver (perhaps along with my Zodiac Super Sea Wolf). Great for everyday wear.

I've had a few and currently have a bronze model and the quartz chrono, which was one of the best deals around when it was available at Ashford.

It's certainly a great every day piece! Super Sea Wolf is super cool too!

The price is certainly one of the most appealing parts of the Combat Sub. It's really not all that much money for how much watch you get, regardless of being automatic or quartz. I was eying the quartz GMT model for a while, but ended up getting that fix elsewhere.

The chrono is a 13 jewel quartz movement and was selling for under 200 usd on sale. Built like a tank!

It's really impressive how they've gotten the cost down on those. I know that "Swiss Made" doesn't mean entirely made in Switzerland, but who cares if the end product is great!

Nice trijicon and G17 (I 🤔).

Watch is good too 😂 .

Do wish that specific colorway came in a hair smaller case size tho.

Thanks! It's actually an old Gen 2 gun that I've done a lot of work on over the last few years, looks great when paired with my 90's watches.

I've got the wrist for the 42mm, but it is a shame that they don't do an identical 40mm case version. I bet that would sell better, imo.

Quality build, looks amd feels good too! Bought one for myself and son at Cosco (dirt cheap).

How can you not like this...

Exactly.

Kinda figured it had seen some upgrades, since it looked like you had the slide milled for an optic, in regards to the Glock. 🤘🏻👌🏻

Agreed! I got mine for about $220 as a "used" showcase model from a shop via eBay. I think that the worst thing about the watch is the included NATO, but those are very easy and cheap to replace.

Yep! I've done the following:

Slide milled for an optic

Rear sight dovetail cut in front of the optic pocket

Replaced OEM barrel (worn locking surfaces) for a KKM drop-in match barrel

Replaced worn springs in frame/slide

Dropped in Ghost Inc. connector, reduced power firing pin block spring, and an increased power striker spring

Added an LTT SCD plate to the slide

It's a gun that I've had for a few years, and I've shot it a fair bit. I love tinkering, and it's been a fun project.

I purchased mine just over a year ago. I was looking for a specific dial as I like gilt dials. I wanted it to come in the bracelet but unfortunately that wasn't a option with the reference I liked. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rubber strap and overall it is a well made and good looking watch. I am on the lookout for a bracelet but for now the rubber works.

I've seen that one, and truth be told, I'm not a big fan of the handset. I do like the date window location though.

I love this thing and want to get one for my collection, but can’t find a straight up black bezel version on a stock metal bracelet.

·

I love these Glycine Subs. I have a bronze version. Great value, great details, great case shape. Would love a 39mm in the collection

I don't think that they really sell many of them in that configuration. I have seen a few vendors on eBay that sell the OEM bracelets by themselves, so there's always that option.

I was the temporary guardian of one last year and I have to say I really enjoyed the watch. I have been looking for the right one to come along to add one back into my collection. I do not want the exact model I cared for as to not copy my friend who owns the watch I got to enjoy.

I loved mine, until it started “helicoptering”.Was able to return it.
