Place holder?

I bought this Omega Seamaster 300M to hold me over until my Rolex Explorer II "Polar" comes in but it may be to difficult to let this one go!  This thing is so beautiful and legible I absolutely love it on the bracelet, rubber and pretty much any nato.

It’s a great looking watch!  That dial and bezel both pop.  I guess can re asses when or if you’re able to hold both

Also, does Rolex take names on a wait lists again?  Is demand dropping that much?  I thought Rolex ADs just say  ‘list too long so no you cant be added”

To be honest, I've never taken to the whole "placeholder watch" thing.  I mean, I think my approach has always been if you want X, go get X.

For example, that would be like saying, "I'm dating Gal A, but only because Gal B is unavailable right now.  Gal A is just a placeholder girlfriend."

...

Actually, now that I think about it, men do this all the time.  So...  I guess it makes perfect sense.

But, you know what would make even more sense?

Agreed. I understand the notion of buying a homage because one cannot afford the original, but a substitute watch is tough.

I would posit, if you plan on using the substitute watch as trade in from the same AD, that could be a game well played, if you don’t mind taking a hit.

I think I know what you mean. I'm also waiting for the AD to call about a 226570.

I’m also waiting for my AD to call for a 126610LV since I recon it will take about a year or so I bought a Glashutte Original SeaQ that’s definitely a keeper so much so that I’m not 100% sure that I want the submariner anymore but I need to make my way up to a Daytona so I’ll be keeping it!

·

Nice placeholder! It’s a great looking watch in its own right. The white dial variant is the best looking 300m IMO.

Arguably too similar to the Exp II to warrant having both but if you love both and can do it, keep them!

Good luck with the decision when it’s time.

·

I did the same with the black dial SMP in place of a sub. I took my name off the list for a sub a couple months later. thats how much I enjoy it.

·

The SM300 is a great watch in it's own right and doesn't need to replace / be a placeholder for anything IMHO. Bet you can't wait for the Rollie to arrive though!

·

Seems like your place is arguably a better watch. I certainly wouldn't want to be replacing the Omega with the Rolex.

·

flipping in this downward heading market is not a good idea. Recession layoffs will help cool it further. Hold off on the Rolex as those prices will come down.

·

I think this watch is on par with the Rolly (never held any if them 😅). Why not just let this be the one if it's so good? As long as you don't really need a GMT-function.

·

I think you will struggle when it comes to trading it in. It's a lovely watch.

·

That watch is a beauty all on its own. would love one actually. Just thought I’d drop Jason Heaton’s excellent review of this watch right here

·

Best Omega & best Rolex, IMO.  Keep them both.

It’s more of a standing order then a “list” I’ve bought multiple watches from this dealer and sales person. This is the longest I’ve ever  waited.

It’s only my place holder because the Explorer isn’t avalable for the for what I’m told could be a year. Ive had it on order for 4 months now so fingers crossed I may ended up keeping both 🤷‍♂

Brilliant!  I love the both watches... and girls concept!

Wifey giving me a frowny face on this one

One of my favorite watches, but maybe it’ll be my 10th watch. There’s still so many others that I wanna get😫

·

That's a beautiful watch. It's in my top 3 of next watch to get. I'd never let it go.
