I’ve been without a beater (that I wear) for a few years. I have a G-Shock in a drawer, but don’t care for it. I am thinking of picking up a Scurfa or CWC quartz.

I’d go with the Explorer 1. That’s coming from someone that owned and sold an Air King (see image) after a few years. Although I think the Air King is a beautiful watch — it just didn’t click with me.

I should have Googled the fix before asking. You can replace the crown tube which houses the threads. I didn’t find the cost, but it’ll be much less than a whole case.
