Barton Sailcloth Strap Review

Got this yesterday, tried very hard to like it.

Extraordinarily stiff, very difficult to get it to go into the correct hole at that tension because the inner layer slides away from the outer cloth shell and the bottom leather layer.

I had misgivings about that leather and water anyway, but that’s moot because the strap is pretty much crap.

Which is a shame, because it looks nice overall and I’m not buying an Artem for a Duro.

But after less than a full day of wear, here is the onset of major fraying:

The leather lining is extraordinarily cheap too:

I’m sending this back to Barton for a refund. A different strap from a different maker is on order. Until then, back to the stock Duro strap. Which is not great, but it’s better than this Barton.

In the past I also tried silicone waffle and textured bands from Barton and Ritchie, but the textures were way too subtle on the silicone vs FKM and they were lint traps.

I had the the same thought. LOL

Bummer about the band! I was thinking of getting the same band for my Duro!

Good review thanks for sharing. I have just gotten a few sailcloth straps but from Artem

I'd put it on a NATO

I am. New navy BluShark 22mm incoming.

I'm pretty happy with my Ritche Sailcloth strap. I did a quick review a few weeks ago if you're still interested in a reasonably priced sailcloth strap.

I know this is an older post but I searched for sailcloth straps and found this post. I had the same issue with Barton sailcloth straps. I bought 1 20mm and 1 22mm and the cloth looked terrible after a couple of uses. I love their Elite Silicone straps but the sailcloth was a big disappointment.
