Ming ...a fad or a must own?

Finding myself being drawn to this brand more and more as time goes on. I would love to know the communities thoughts ?

Agree

It's very Tron, but I'm not sure I'd waste my time trying to get my hands on one.

Well, I have a hard time with the idea that any watch is a “must own”. It’s very interesting. It’s just not my thing.  But I would ask you all about it if we were sitting on a plane.

Ming has had a lot of quality issues with their watches just fyi. Look in YouTube for the various issues folks have reported.

I‘ve liked Ming’s unique designs, but don't care for the way Ming sells watches.
I‘ve attempted to purchase one on three different occasion, with no success. Frustrated me to the point I won’t buy one now. Plus Ming’s recent QC issues for premium priced watch, and it’s never buy now.

Personally, I've loved their design language from the moment I first encountered Ming online. I own the 17.09 in blue, and it's one of my favorites. While I haven't had it long, I've had no problems so far. Any quality issues seem to have long since been dealt with. It might not be for everyone, but I love the dial, the case, the lugs, the crown and the indecies/lume. It feels simultaneously classic and modern, and so original/unlike anything else out there (Tron-ness and all 🙂).  Focus group of one: I love what they've been doing, and love the actual Ming I own.

I've pulled the trigger on the 22.01 gilt.  The comments on QC seem to be due to the fact that the particular model was using the GMT hand of a GMT complication as some kind of quickset hour hand (the logic defies me) and that it 'pulls back' into true after running for a while...

The 22.01 is a GMT (which I fancied) and it uses the hour hand as the hour hand and the GMT to do its proper job.  Design language looked interesting and I've apparently got 14 days from receipt to decide whether to keep or send it back.

Worth a look but like many over-hyped pieces (to be fair everything seems to be) its a PITA to get on issue

That's an absolutely beautiful watch! I agree with you 100% that their design language is great.

Am I mistaken, or does the top photo demonstrate the problem with the hands being misaligned? It appears  that based on having the minute hand pointing to somewhere just past the 5 minute mark, the hour hand should be much closer to the 1 than it is to the 2, but in the photo it appears about half way (which would imply the minute hand should be pointing straight down ).

I really enjoy their design, there is one model with a purple dial which I find stunning.

Now, if you like to speculate then you may want to opt for another brand which has more history. If you just want to buy it for yourself with no intention to sell, then pull the trigger and get it. It has a rather unique aesthetics and therefore won't feel like 'another' one in the collection.

yes its for myself :) as it would be nice to have something like this as something cool to own , I love the yellow honeycomb dial and the blue is also in the running.

I think it's just the angle of the photo. I actually pulled it out of the watch box this morning to double check 😛. Everything lines up as it should.

I like Ming but I'm boring and have more traditional taste for myself so I'm not sure where it would fit into my collection.

Same lol , I tend to like simple and classic , but this just has a sort of cyberpunk tokeyo neon vibe like 🐝

Love the dial and hands but personally think the shape of the lugs clash. something in the vein of the Aqua Terras twisted and brushed lugs might compliment the overall aesthetic.
