I’ve bought watches on chrono with no problems.

I 100% think the most important thing though is to look at the seller…..if they have a lot of 5stsr reviews then u r good to go. If they are new to the platform and don’t have many reviews then I wouldn’t recommend. The watches I bought were from professional dealers with over 8000 reviews and brick and mortar locations in Tokyo

Iwc calibre 89 is stunning, part of horological history and relatively inexpensive

When buying second hand….. always buy the seller….. if they are reputable it will protect you. If it is to good to be true, then it probably is a scam.

Personally I prefer the oyster look but another issue to consider is the oyster that comes with a submariner has great microadjust feature…..not sure about the oyster that comes with the gmt though….. certainly the jubilee has extra space from the clip but it’s not as good as the other system.

I have had a tendency to baby the watches I have (including the stainless sports watches like yours) but recently I changed my tune….. my dad has a single Rolex he bought in 2001…..he wore it every day for 20 odd years for everything he did….. office work, hiking, swimming what ever… it got some scratches of course but still looked pretty good. It recently started loosing time so it was time to get it serviced (first time in 20 odd years). It came back looking absolutely as good as new….. so i have changed my attitude….. wear your watches. They can be repaired if any significant issues…. Or perhaps u prefer to keep the’battle scars’ as a memory but either way….they can be repaired as good as new👌

How about a vintage omega. Say a pie pan constellation in gold or a 1950s seamaster (eg model 2577). They are smaller but have large lug to lug so don’t look small imo and are beautiful and relatively cheap.
