Moore, Roger Moore

Roger Moore was, is, and will always be my James Bond.

When I was a kid and would go to the video store with my Dad he would ask, "Have you seen this Bond film?"

I would usually reply, "Is it my James Bond (Roger Moore) or the other James Bond (Sean Connery)?"

The digital watches of the late Moore era are a big part of what made me notice and covet watches.

Just as the watches were different in the Roger Moore era so too was the character. For all the other actors who portrayed Bond their charm was just a cover, they were ruthless killers. For Roger Moore's James Bond he was a gentleman who just happened to be a spy as his career. He wasn't a cold-blooded assassin.

My James Bond will always be Sean Connery. He was the cool serious one where I always felt Roger More was a little tongue in cheek. And the DB5 of course.

·

Brosnan, Pierce Brosnan. The man who ushered in Goldeneye64.

·

Definitely Brosnan

·

Sean Connery was the best one 😉

and he had the #rolex with the “bond” NATO

I say Connery. Moore was sleezy. Brosnan was a catalogue model. And Daniel Craig was more like Fleming's "cold-blooded assassin" from the books. But Sean Connery just owned the role.

·

Daniel Craig closely followed by Sean Connery...I'm the right age for Roger Moore but always thought he was more at home as The Saint?

·

Daniel Craig guy here, followed by Connery, then the rest. Blunt instrument and all that.... 🤏🏻

I will say to the OP, I do like how Moore brought digital watches into style TBH.

I've seen every Bond film, several times.

My order of preference:

Craig

Connery

Brosnan

Lazenby

Moore

Dalton

·

If memory serves me right, Roger was the one that wore watches that would be considered more the every day man's watches.

·

They would have to include the ill fitting bond strap that is at least 2mm too small.

I agree,except for Moore,he wasn’t sleazy,me was a player.He also turned bond series into a comedy series(or directors did).

·

Brosnan, Connery and Daniel in that order.

You might be able to tell from my avatar...I am a James Bond FANATIC! The books are my favorite way to indulge. They are brilliant escapism entertainment. I do love the films as well - but really mostly the ones actually based on Fleming plots. From Russia With Love is, hands down, the best Bond film of all time - with Casino Royale, Goldfinger, Thunderball, and On Her Majesty's SS right up there. Both Moore and Brosnan hung around too long and, while their early films were good, they became caricatures of themselves and their later films, from Octopussy and Moonraker to the later Brosnan films were just plain awful. For me, Connery will always be Bond - and Rolex will always be Bond's watch.

As an aside, the movie Bonds never wore the Fleming Bond's watch - a Rolex Explorer.

·

Sean Connery hands down. He's the OG or OS (old spy). Octopussy enough said. No other Bond was ever that cool. Brosnan gave it a good try with, Onatopp, but will always be the second best.

·

My 007 is Sir John Dee :)

·

Even within Moore's films there are differences in the character. The Spy Who Loved Me & For Your Eyes Only are two films where Moore is more subdued, and in the case of the latter film, even the film is more subdued to his era "in general". No surprise they duked it out for being Roger's personal favourite.

·

Tsk… just get a BB54. Basically a 6538

·

George Lazenby.

·

Rotten Tomatoes has all the Bond movies ranked. The top three; Goldfinger, From Russia... and Dr. No. All with Connery as Bond. That's democracy in action. Just sayin'.

·

I once met Roger Moore in Heathrow Airport… it was a brief exchange but he was a perfect gentleman and although they say “never meet your idols” he was a wonderful person…

He was wearing a grand seiko at the time… (jk)

·

Brosnan and Moore for me. Their Bond movies were over the top and fun.

Favorites of both: Goldeneye and Man with the Golden Gun.

·

Got to be Connery for his ability to switch from suave to killer instantly.

That's it. EXACTLY. Fleming's creation had a little bit of psychopath in him!
