If both are from Oris… which will you pick?

Today Tudor and Oris both released new dive watch. Similar specs and priced. But Tudor got much more people talking about it. It makes me wonder, if both watches are released by Oris, which will have more coverage? I personally like Tudor as a brand more but like the new Diver 65 design more.

The answer will almost always be "the one without the snowflake hand" for me, and this is no exception. Crown guard omission is the only issue on the Oris which has preferable indices and bezel.

While I'll acknowledge the hype around the Pelagos is somewhat related to the Tudor (and by association Rolex) brand, the angst that had existed since the original Pelagos came out, about it not suiting smaller wrists, means that when a drop like this happens, it's going to get attention.

Oris for me this time. I prefer the case sans crown guards, the date is very well done, and I personally do not require a novella at the bottom of the dial. Great warranty, service interval, and a 5 day reserve is really something that is exceptional for the price.

I nearly purchased the pro pilot x, but the printed indices let me down...

They're really not alike and have different use purposes -- the Oris only has 100M of WR, the Tudor has 200M of WR.  I know it doesn't seem like a big distinction, but it really is.

·

In terms of styling I prefer the Pelagos, it screams Dive watch for me. In terms of Specs I think the new Oris diver is a better deal, especially with a 12-hour bezel.

I would go for the Tudor, but not because it's a Tudor. I genuinely liked the Pelagos in Blue, but was too large for my wrist. I wore an Oris Aquis Date, and was like "yeah, this is a good watch" but it didn't make me want it.

·

My personal preference leans towards the Oris design visually... but it is a slight let down that the Oris only has 100M water resist

·

While I like the true Oris, I prefer the design of the Pelagos here.  The 65 design language is nice, but I think they peaked with the Deauxville blue version.

·

I do personally prefer the Oris, though my preference is for the coloured bezels, however I do feel they compete and this picture from a certain person on IG may well some things up…

I like the D65 more, but that is in the context of my current collection. I have a few pieces that look very similar to the Tudor. The D65 would stand out in my watchbox.

·

If both are from Oris, why didn't they make the Diver 65 in titanium? And why stop at Grade 2 titanium anyways?

The Pelagos would obviously get more attention, as yet another Rolex/Tudor homage; perfect for the algorithms.

Really?! You‘re going to cost me money!

None of the above.  Not a fan of dive watches.  Not a fan of Tudor.  Not a fan of Oris.  Oh Oris released a dive watch that looks like every other dive watch, how special.

·

I have the FXD and an Oris 65. They feel like totally opposite watches. The Tudor feels sharp, machined, and rugged. The Oris feels thin, light, and almost delicate. Not sure how the specs compare but the "feel" of the two are very different, imho.

·

Oris seemingly releases a watch every day and let’s be honest, most look identical, thus little fanfare.

The watch world has been waiting for a smaller Pelagos and the gave us one, mostly.

·

Tudor usually drops watches at W&W and one Surprise Sept release, so not necessarily all the time. Oris drops a new edition any day ending in a Y.

·

Neither will do for me and Tudor obsession with the fugly "snowflake" hands  together with the square blocky indices makes it the worst of the pair while I honestly wasn't able to see how the new Oris is different from their other models, which I also don't like a lot.

·

Oris all day long. never liked the modern pelagos design, always prefered the black bay over the pelagos.

·

Just the no date will mean that I shall go for the T’oris’- I prefer no dates for symmetry.

Ofcourse, I will have to check the lug to lug, case diameter, and case thickness first… and maybe the lug width 😅
