WatchCrunch x Jack Mason: True GMT

I had the pleasure of meeting Peter from Jack Mason watches @TimeToDesign recently and we started a conversation about collabing on a watch.

Wanting to exercise my amateur design chops, under his guidance and after many back and fourths, this is the design we settled on.

It is based on their new Strat-O-timer GMT using Miyotas's new 9075 true traveler GMT movement. Will come in right around $1k. With all the trimmings of a luxury GMT.

This will be a limited run, not about making money here, just 2 watch guys getting creative. Of course offered first to members here, let me know below your feelings:

0. I'll pass 🤮

  1. I'm curious 🧐
  2.  How do I preorder 😲

How big will it be do you know?

Lug to lug size could make it or break it for me!

I could make those sizes work 👍

I do like that you've chosen a GMT to reflect the international nature of our community (unless that is just a story I have invented for myself 😄).

·

Oh my god its BEAUTIFUL!

If it wasn't a grand I'd be buying like 3 of em.

I'm loving those vintage vibes from the cushion case!

You and your pack of scavengers have been thinking a lot about time zones recently.😄

'Pack of Scavanagers' I love that 🤣

I did say we needed a GMT to keep track of eachother!

·

Definitely get behind this.

Very curious.

·

I really like the color combination. So cool.

·

If I just didn’t snag that new Mido GMT, I’d have been game! Nice color combo, and I’ve always liked Jack Mason’s design language. Hope to see more automatic offerings from them in the future. Great collab @Max and @TimeToDesign !

Thanks, it'll be a few months till it's actually made, plenty of time to think about it 😉

I want one…. Have I missed the boat?

2! I want one…

·

Have I missed the preorder details?

·

@Max Great to hear the JM special edition will be realized 🙏

Met the Jack Mason team at WindUp and the designer said that "so many people" have asked him about the WatchCrunch collab Strait-o-timer. He said he couldn't show the watch, because Max had the watch and he was keeping it under wraps like Christopher Walken in Pulp Fiction. I'm getting my pocketbook ready....

·

I also had a chance to meet and talk to Peter Cho - Head of design at Jack Mason. To actually talk to the designer of a watch and have him ask me what I thought of his design choices for the watch. It made me appreciate how watch making is a passion and art for some and not just business. It was easier to create a connection with the watch when you meet the people who make it and you can tell how serious they are about their work. Its feeling like this will be my first GMT

How to preorder?

I've been studying this watch and I wanted to see it again in real life, because I was concerned with how much the white numerals on the bezel would contrast with the black dial. In my humble opinion, the contrast was a bit aggressive in the prototype photos but the production model - the white numerals are off-white and blend more comfortably with the overall watch aesthetic. I noticed that the white lettering is used on the blue dial "Pepsi" Strat-O-Timer and a patina colored numerals are on the root beer and candy corn Strat-O-Timer. Nice job!

·

Oh man, that is a super nice color way!

I have the espresso on the way but now I want this one!

·

That looks amazing! Want!

·

Hi

I’m new to Watch Crunch. Have I missed the GMT order? The colors are striking!

I did manage to place an order 😊. The design looks stunning. I collect GMTs and hope Jack Mason won't let me down with the watch or with the delivery.
