Who is your favorite watch journalist?

I have to admit I am a Hodinkee era Jack Forster fanboi. Just having him reply to my comments would make my day. I think he is simply the best at describing difficult technical issues in an understandable and interesting way.

Andrew Morgan (Mr Talking Hands) strikes the right balance of humor and thought.

Ben Clymer has great insight into the business side of watches.

Unfortunately, all three have sort of moved on from their previous roles. Id love to find more out there.

Who is your favorite, and why?

I agree a 100% on Forster and Clymer. Although I consume a lot of content from Morgan, to me Forster is the best one out there…

Ben, like you mentioned, leans on a different side/area of the watch world. But Youtube is a sad place since Jack stopped making videos. He did one kind of recently for Watchbox, I hope he jumps in more frequently.

I really like Andrew Morgan, Tim Mosso, Teddy Baldessare, Tim from Caseback Watches and Bill Sanders.

·

The guy known as velociphile on ig.

Not sure if he's writing for any magazine rn.

Given his takes on ig, watch brands can be glad he only has 4k followers and seemingly isn't writing much...

·

All the ones you mentioned are great. I also enjoy reading reading content written by James Stacey and Robert-Jan Broer.

·

Tony traina is great on hondinkee and especially hodinkee radio at the moment and I definitely enjoy Mike Stockton from fratello

·

Teddy and Andrew 👌

·

I like Teddy Baldassarre

·

Jody 🤪

Ben Clymer is great when he allows himself to be a journalist and not just a talking head/admin of the company. The old days of Hodinkee were fantastic . . . really hate what they have become But I suppose that often happens the longer things stick around and try to grow.

I loved the old Hodinkee panels with Jack, Cara, and usually some other combination Ben and/or another editor.

Tim is a stat and spec king. He'd be wonderful leading an auction. Few can talk so authoritatively and eloquently about a watch in so little time. When I first TGV at Watch Box talking to Tim it was immediately apparent that TGV wasn't a great fit there . . . like TGV is more on the spectrum of entertainment whereas Tim is more on the spectrum of a professional information/dropping knowledge.

Teddy, @Max, @AndrewMorgan, Jenni Elle and Adrian Barker - they got me into serious watch collecting!

·

I loved the 'hey hodinkee' segment with Jack. Too bad it was short lived. I dont see much of him on youtube anymore. I do see his regular posts on IG

·

Jack is a gentlemanly cerebral articulate high horology journalist whose style I enjoy and find interesting. He’s excellent.

Bens focus is making money and not for me

Andrew Morgan is my cup of tea. Intelligent experienced and has an excellent dry style of humour. I sometimes wonder a bit about bias.

Teddy baldassare is very good. His videos on tour at various watch manufacturers such as Longines JLC, Glashutte original, Nomos etc to name a few are incredible

Tim Mosso is a behemoth of knowledge and isn’t afraid to step on toes. I think he is brilliant.

Adrian barker/time and tide crew used to be good until they teamed up with that clown and became farcical can’t take them seriously any more

And let’s not forget our godfather the neurologist Maximilian

I loved the first "season" of About Effing Time and used to love Bark & Jack, and Time & Tide. But now they've become caricatures of themselves. It's unfortunately devalued Time & Tide, Bark & Jack (Adrian), and George to the point that I will actively avoid any video or article involving them.

·

To add to the above: Peter Kotsa, Mike from This Watch, That Watch, the Time Teller, the ID Guy, the Watch Idiot, and I miss Brandon Menancio (? I know I've misspelt that) who doesn't release videos enough these days.

Hard to name a favourite, but I would mention that it was Adrian Barker and the irrepressible Jody who got me into watch youtubers.

·

Teddy for sure, but I’m really liking what Anthony Traina is bringing to Hodinkee. Finally someone relatable!

·

I like Mario Lenke, a german YT, Urban Gentry for his style and presentation, Ben occasionally and some others.

I take recomendations from them wirh a grain of salt however.

·

This Watch, That Watch. His name is Mike, last name unknown.

Teddy, Jody, Andrew, Evan - they're all great in their niches, but Mike stands above thanks to his thoughtful attitude. Knowledgeable, well spoken, witty.

Same choices.

Highly recommend the.fourth.wheel - one of the most underrated watch writers out there in my opinion. Everything you need in one email.
