Best Rectangle Watches

Watches should be round! Right? Or maybe they are better rectangular. I've become obsessed with rectangular watches so now I'm curious to see what the watch community here thinks.

The rectangle watch craze is real. The last one I had in, a Seiko from the 80s sold in under 30 minutes of being listed.

Whoops meant to hit round…won’t let me change

Santos De Cartier

Ahh yes another great choice.. but which Santos medium, large, two-tone, full gold? Or the Santos Dumont de Cartier range 😍

Great looking watch

I really like irregularly shaped watches, and have some in my collection. My rectangular ones include a JLC Reverso Squadra Hometime and a Rolex Cellini Prince. I'd like to add a Tank as well, but am in no hurry to do so. The issue that I have with rectangular watches is that they feel too dressy, and therefore based on my casual lifestyle, they don't get worn as often as my other watches.

I’ve always had a sweet spot for the Gulf Edition Tag Monaco. Well beyond my means to the point I occasionally consider the crude homages.

Great pics thanks for sharing. Both models are great examples. Hopefully you will choose to wear them more often now 😉

I really love the discontinued Cartier Tank Basculante, combines both the thin and sleek design of the Tank Louis and the flipping mechanism of the Reverso!

The Monaco arguably deserves a poll of it's own. It's a great watch I prefer the look on the caliber 11 but the newer Heuer 02 ones are also impressive. I have a feeling you would not enjoy a homage as much.

Not actually rectangular, but close enough!

Love my squares,here’s a few of’em

·

Since squares are also rectangles, I'll start with non-square rectangles and then move on to squares...

My favorite rectangle is, of course, JLC's Reverso...

I presently have two in the collection, with one more scheduled to arrive later this year...

Another favorite at the opposite end of the price spectrum, is the classic Tissot Banana...

Image

Bulova made a nice version for the Joseph Bulova collection...

Image

And for modern designs, Moels has a nice case shape...

Image

In terms of squares, it's hard to beat the Heuer Monaco...

But, the Certina Argonaut Chronograph is a pretty close second for me...

And then there are some other interesting square watches...

How was the Santos not in the lineup?

Technically I wanted to understand what the WC thought between the tank and the Reverso and threw in 2 decoys the Monaco a fantastic sports and the round option. The Santos and the Santos Dumont are great watches, both heritage and style wise.

Oh wow great examples. I can definitely see myself owning one 🤔

·

The JLC is one of my all time favorite watches but I really like the other two as well so it’s no knock to say the JLC hands down

Ah well played sir

Honestly, wearing my Brew Retromatic has seriously made me question if I still want a Reverso at all (it was one point my chosen next-to-buy). I pick it over my other watches (GS’s, BB GMT, Lange One) with genuinely surprising frequency
