I have been liking watches for longer than I thought. Started to collect watches for about 5 years, or at least buying them as collection pieces rather than jewelry that I like.
My studies of “Gentlemanship” (etiquette, history, class relations, great historical figures…) led to an interest in the objects around it, thus leading into watches. While I did have several watches, the “collecting” hobby started 5-6 years ago.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
That I remember, a Timex Ironman (pre indiglo). I also had a Snoopy kids watch before that must have come from Zellers or Wolco (1980s).
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Have fun! Though if you can, always enjoy the hunt rather than just the meal.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
I’m into microbrands mostly at the moment. Lorier gets the bulk of my disposable income, but I also like what Baltic, Islander, Nodus, Traska and Nivada Grenchen (ok the last isn’t technically a microbrand) are offering.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
Though to say, many have luxury watches as their grail and my pleasure is to find the one that punches way over it weight. Either a Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster panda dial would fit that category since almost 2000 💶, which is a lot of maple sirup dollars 🍁.
