My Favourite Type of Watch is a Diver!!;)

Yes I’ve said a diver!! I’m a sporty guy in a sporty job and I love a swim!! I love a divers bezel if not for the timing then simply for the look or the figitability !
its the toughest (usually) and I don’t baby my watches! I’d love to know what your favourite type of watch is?!;)

Hahahaha yes!!!

Diver for sure. It’s funny. I never wanted a diver . . . until I wanted a diver. And now they make up the bulk of my collection. 🤷‍♂️

I hate swimming, but I do love a nice diver!(Image failed to load!)

Divers used to be my thing. Have owned dozens but don't actually own one at present. Will pickup a BB 58 eventually. For now, sport watches are my favorite. Own Sinn 556A-RS and CW C63 in that category.

Dear MWC,

Just to say I enjoy your channel very much, and thanks to you I found this great forum!

Divers to me look a bit clumsy from a design perspective, meaning that they are built for a function that the wearer doesn't need, or that they are more or less just mimicking the function that the type of watch was originally designed for. I dislike the term "diver-style", but it is often accurate.

That being said, many are still very robust watches that are very easy to read, even if you just use the bezel as an egg timer. Their look is very distinct and they won't be mistaken for a smartwatch, even from a distance. I do understand their popularity. For me they are mostly weekend watches.

I like that they look good but are also (generally) able to take a beating. From a design perspective, I love the balance most divers have between simple and busy. They’re not as boring as a lot of dress watches (just my opinion), but they’re also not so cluttered with complications and goofy design elements that they feel ostentatious. There’s an elegance to a good diver that you just don’t get in many other types of watches.

As someone who is terminally fidgety, I agree that having a rotating bezel is fun.  🤘

And there’s just something about them that speaks to me. A lot of what I like about divers could also apply to a GMT, but I don’t see as many of those that pop like a diver does.

I prefer watches without bezels with smaller dimentions. I think those are way more durable than divers. You don´t have that many moving parts and you can still have great WR. For example the new alpinist reeditions - no bezel, no compas, 200M WR, 39mm. I will not probably knock and damage it as easy as some of my seiko divers :-D So I guess for me it´s field watches or everyday watches like Seiko Sharp Edge or Rolex OP (or explorer).
