Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

Started way back in the 80s with Seiko then TagHeuer, Omega, Longines, Breitling in the late 90s. Back then these watch makers were on the pricey side at the time, at least for me.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

I honestly can't remember but it had to be one of the big three as a young teenager which were Seiko, Citizen, Bulova. I remember my Seiko Turtle in the 80s for sure.

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

Not really, I've had way too many watches in my time, over 200 easy. Currently 2 watch boxes full. I remember learning to tell time at a very young age, also I would tinker with my uncles old watches that he had in a small wooden chest. My dad and grandpa weren't into the hobby so I kinda got into watches out of curiosity then later on it became a passion and interest of all things Horology.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Read up on watches and visit several AD to get familiar with the brands and manufactures. See what watch makers you like, watches have come a long way since I came up. Design, materials and workmanship are much better IMO. Build a relationship with a few shops if possible and like minded people and go to watch shows, events etc. finally take your time on your first watch and don't feel like you need a expensive watch to be part of the community cause you really don't. This is a wonderful hobby and the more attainable watches will be part of your EDC for sure.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Since Jan 2023 I have introduced several pieces, Rolex Explorer 2 2023 ref. 226570 super case, Maxi dial black & white dials, don't ask me why? Rolex Cermit 2023 ref. 126610, Rolex OP 126333-013 oyster stele -18K yellow gold 2023 manufacture, Glashutte Original Sea Q 39.5mm 18K red god caliber 39-11 21K rotor, Girard Perregaux Laureato 42 green dial 2023, Girard Perregaux Laureato 38 Copper dial 2023, Tudor BB Pro all Steele 2022, Tudor Pelagos 39 all titanium 2023, grand Seiko Ryusendo LTD 300 pieces 2022, a few Zenith El Primero, GS Omiwatari etc. BTW Vacheron Constantin overseas would make it back again for the second time into the watch box very soon.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

I had a few would be grail watches in the past and I believe that for some a grail watch would be a watch that is expensive or hard to come by, perhaps a vintage piece or even out of one's budget. I hear a lot about grail this and that but for me my collection holds a few grail watches which would bring me many years of great time companion. My interpretation of a grail watch would be a watch that you saved up for, perhaps a vintage or modern, new or pre owned that one watch that checks all the boxes, your dream watch could be one you can't afford, yeah I have a few of those.
