Seiko SNXS79 or Orient bambino 2 G V 2?

Hey, I'm looking for a first automatic movement watch to start a little collection since I just got into watches and I'm still a student. Looking for something that looks cool as an everyday watch. What do you think?

What is your budget?

If your budget allows then I would go for a newer Seiko 5 like the dressKX. It would be a better option for you with good specs and usable bracelet too out of the box. Plus it is super versatile with 20mm lugs and lot of options to play with strap combinations.

SRPE51, SRPE53, SRPE55.

They are not apples to apples. But, the first watch I got was the SNXS79 because of its versatility (for various occasions and situations) and adaptability (can wear various bracelets and straps) ;)

During the #snxs7xweek last Sept 4-10, I wrote 7 posts to explain the 7 reasons why the SNXS79, and the whole SNXS7x line, is a legendary watch. Here's the first post:

I'm partial to the SNXS79. You can easily swap to an NH36 movement.

Thanks for the shoutout @hakki501!

I would honestly just buy the watch that looks coolest to you. At lower price points (<$500USD), the movement of the watch will be moot point to compare (they will likely be running anywhere between +30s~-30s a day and may be missing some some features). I would even consider a quartz watch as they're going to be much more reliable.

The good thing about the SNXS series is that, if you feel inclined, they are very moddable watches. You can upgrade the crystal to sapphire, you can swap the movement for a newer version, you can change the case back to be thinner, you can change the hands, etc. As Hakki has shown, the particular SNXS79 also works well with pretty much any strap/bracelet you see fit.

Between those two I’d go for the bambino for its movement. But a Seiko 5 would be the choice for me a modern one with the 4r36 movement

Any Orient is a great choice for a first automatic wristwatch! Great quality and in-house movement make them pretty unmatched for the pricepoints!
