“A Seiko 5? Seriously?”
If there's one watch in your collection that you think you'll never be bored of, which one would that be?
For me, it's my Seiko 5 SNXS79. Seriously.
It was the first watch I got when I began watch collecting as a hobby in October 2021.
And to this day, it never ceases to amaze.
"A Seiko 5? Seriously? Why?", you may ask.
Well, I’m not alone. I know I’m in good company because a good number of other Crunchers also have one of the other models from the same admired line, as part of their collection – the SNXS73, 75, 77, and 81.
But, that doesn’t answer your question.
On each day of this whole SNXS7x Week, and as a way of celebrating this venerable collection, I will share 7 simple and straightforward reasons why my SNXS79 is beloved. I will even wager that my fellow SNXS7x-ers have similar thoughts (and may even share more).
To start off, here's Reason #1.
It's Superbly Versatile. It can be worn for a broad spectrum of occasions.
From a business meeting or client call (or even more formal occasions)...
...to an everyday work timepiece.
From weekend socials...
or chillax weekends...
...to leisurely road trips or short vacations.
Some watches may be “pushed” to be versatile, being worn in certain settings or occasions it wasn't originally designed and purposed to be in. But then again, anyone can choose to wear what he or she wants, right?
However, it will seem to be like a fish out of water, flailing to and fro, gasping for air, inadvertently drawing attention to itself, but not really living in its element.
Not so with my SNXS79, or any of the #snxs7x models. From the first few days...
...until today. Wearing it doesn't feel forced. It is a joy, a pleasure.
I excitedly anticipate having it on wrist for a particular setting, situation, or occasion.
There's no doubt. No second-guessing. No WC poll on which watch I should wear. It's a no-brainer.
I simply put on my SNXS79 knowing that it will hold its own. It will rest well on my wrist, like fish in water.

It’s a great reliable go forever seiko, had one and gifted it to my grandson, purely because I have 8” plus wrist and it wore a little small. I totally understand your attachment to it.well made clean looking classic seiko, BTW i like it on the dark brown? Leather strap in your photo stream

It’s a great reliable go forever seiko, had one and gifted it to my grandson, purely because I have 8” plus wrist and it wore a little small. I totally understand your attachment to it.well made clean looking classic seiko, BTW i like it on the dark brown? Leather strap in your photo stream

The leather strap featured in the post is from Leather Craft Manila. The color they give it is "reddish brown". One of the days this week, I'll put it on another leather strap. You might like it too.
That's a beautiful watch and Seiko 5 line even the ones today have something that seems timeless. They are usually so versatile. Put another strap leather NATO's and they give a totally new vibe dressier or sportier! As for me I think Dresskx is in that position where whenever I put on wrist I feel like the first day wearing it! The 20mm lugs and 40 mm makes it suitable for so many occasions! I have a snkl45 that also brings me a lot of satisfaction so I totally get your enthusiasm for the little seiko 5!

I totally get your feeling too re. the DressKX. And, your SNKL45 is also part of another legendary line. #laleyendas I have the SNKL41, and it definitely does bring lots of satisfaction.
