I just realised Rolex increased all of its timepieces and luckily I had a screen capture of 126618LB back in January 2023 and... an increase of AUD$7,400 🤯
.
That's almost the price (July 2023) of Tudor Black Bay Chrono 🐼 on a bracelet
Anyone who buys a solid gold Submariner is really not thinking about $7k here or there. That's why. These are also commonly available without a wait list because no one buys them

I don’t mind the two-tone subs. All gold is a bit overboard.

Well, yes and no...?! I did buy this model brand new on Chrono 24 over retail but it was to celebrate my accomplishment hence why I pulled the trigger, but if I was just considering buying because I simply liked the look/model... I think $7K would have made me think...
Wow. That’s a huge jump. I know they increase prices every year or so. Maybe it’s such a huge jump because of the gold. Not that it matters since it’s way out of range for me. If there’s a huge jump for the SS Datejust, I may just write off Rolex all together.
Looks like precious metal and two tone pieces are realizing the largest increase.
Nothing more to say about it, other than if it floats your boat and you want to pay it and it makes you happy, that’s why they sell almost every watch they make.
Def an eye opener of actual dollars, thanks for posting.
According to YCharts, gold is currently at $1984.11, which is 15.02% higher than it was one year ago. If the watch is solid gold, there's your increase.

It seems to be region based. The Tudor BB58 is still $4000, but Tudor has (rightfully) ammended our region’s price conversion due to our currency (deservedly) going the route of dog water.

Background photo of your profile, is that your BB58 Blue?? 💙 looks amazing, please post more of it!
Commenced watch collecting in late 2022 when I began looking for an "accomplishment" timepiece. I am quickly realising how dangerous this hobby is as it can be very addictive!

Or think how many Spaghetti Scameti it's possible to buy with this sum.

This one...?
I personally prefer the Blackmail Bolognese version because of it's unmistakable "old man special" vibes I get from the two tone finish.
Would you mind unpacking what happened with JLC Reverso last year??? 😮
That's insane................

Go look at the list price of a Reverso, they want like $10k for a watch that's a party trick and an old movement. Unreal

It's nuts.......

Imagine the feeling of being able to pass that down to your Grandson
I consider that Rolex is a commercial company and they set the prices as the overall market is willing to pay and by the demand.
That's the economist in me.
But anyway...sometimes, as a human and watch enthusiast, I just feel like...

Bluesy is in my short list, but I wouldn’t ever consider a solid gold sub, even if I had silly money
Market dictates. They’re a luxury status symbol product.
I wrote it in another post regarding the basically "non-removable" bracelets but I'll comment again:
That's the "nice", "customer-friendly" company Rolex for you.
Oh, and I'm "sure" that they upped their production and quality by the equivalent of 7K dollars... cough, cough...

You think rolex doesen't adjust for inflation or what?

Ahhh thanks for the insight!

No, I did realise that, if you look at other models, some increases are smaller.
