As things go with a triple subdial chronograph layout, there really is no ideal date window placement, here's a few options, vote on your preferred location for both Aesthetics and functionality.
I actually don't mind the 6:00 location of the date window on my Pitzmann III chrono, but I know everyone's preferences differ. ๐ค
And sorry you don't get to choose D, 'none' as an option ๐

D hate the date complication!

Why is that?
I prefer the Valjoux layout ๐ :
Why is that?
It's useful once a day for someone with an average memory & utterly useless for anyone with a decent memory, clutters the dial and isn't attractive - a pointer date is maybe the least offensive..
Obviously we're all different tho and I appreciate that some folks have poor memory. ๐๐ป

Is that your Credor Phoenix? Very nice ๐๐ฝ

Thanks, but that was a stock image, but yes I have one, here is mine, I love it:
I like the symmetry of the 6 o'clock date on the Pitzman, but hate how it cuts into the subdial.
4:30 it is.
12 oโclock with a big date. Love this for everything it is:
4:30 for Zenith movments only. It is one of their calling cards. 6:00 for all others.

OK, I was voting against date dials on these, but this one I like!!
4:30 is slowly getting better for me but still is very much last place. It breaks up a dial symmetry more than anything๐ฌ
Tough one, usually no date.
All depends on how it's integrated, I think on a chrono it needs a colour matched date, not crossing the registers and no huge border/frame. There is already so much on a chrono it needs to be subtle...
Here's both my chronos with a 6:00 date window

Bicompax makes life much easier when integrating the date! Maybe there needs to be a tricompax where one register is a small date pointer? More useful than the 24hr register we sometimes get..
Actually I preffer it at 3:00.

Having yet another hand as a small date pointer would make the dial more busy looking IMHO

I wasn't suggesting another, just replacing the third (sometimes) useless register in a tricompax.

Cramming 31 days into a small chrono subdial would be very difficult to read IMHO

You are not wrong! If there was easy solution it would have already been done!
Mine is at 3, but it's a 7750, so subdials are at 12, 9, 6. For a 3, 6, 9 layout, I guess either at 6 or nonexistent.
Personally don't mind the pitman date at all. Maybe colour matching it to the subdial would have helped
I think 4:30 is probably the safe answer for a lot of chronos, but would love to see more try the 6 o'clock position
Can't stand the 12 o'clock
