Two military watches 100 years apart

These two arrived today.

A JW Benson trench watch - the dedication on the back shows it’s from 1918. I just love the red 12 on the enamel dial.

A 2019 IWC mark xviii laureus edition - ceramic case - sunburst blue dial..

Both legible - clean designs - beautiful in their own way.

which would you take?

I love IWC Mark series

·

Beautiful!

·

Both amazing pieces. I prefer trench watches over fliegers so I'd go with the Benson.

The he has a great vintage vibe. Love it!

Benson

·

Damn that IWC 🔥 Such a subtle blue dial as well

·

Trench is too cool.

·

Although that IWC itself is based on a 60-80 year-old design... either the WWII-era Flieger type A or the post-war Mark XI (Mark 11).

·

Wow both are spectacular!! Close call between the two but if I had to choose, I'd walk away with the Benson

·

Love that trench watch

·

Two bits of info to maybe sway it.

The Benson is 9ct gold and was £400.

The IWC was £2,200, box, papers, awesome second IWC strap in blue rubber and fabric.

ie if you are on the fence the Benson a hell of a lot cheaper!

Not a lover of IWC, though it is a nice watch

That Benson is a beauty
