First Chinese watch with Sea Gull movement

How well do these sea gull movements hold up ? So far I’m really liking this watch. I’ve heard mixed results about the movement, not a big deal given the low cost of the watch but anyone have long term experience with the sea gull movement? This watch looks so much better in person than I expected 👍

Your Seagull movement is actually a Venus calibre 175.  Seagull bought the tooling and technology from the Swiss company in 1955.  It is a good movement and it is cheap.  If anything ever goes wrong, remove and replace.  Do not service. #seagull

I like the looks of those. I mean if you are going to go Chinese, why try to hide it, right?

There are quite a few factories making those with varying QC. The original maker was Sea-Gull and they charge more but the quality is superior. China is in the same place now that japan was in the 70's. Quality was poor as they expanded into the North American market with their cheaper products. The Chinese have a bad habit of assembling things in poor environments with lots of dirt and fingerprints in movements with very little lubrication. Warranty is almost non existent from china. Service on it is worth far more than just ordering a new one. I hope you get lucky with it.

My thoughts exactly! It's a good looking and interesting watch and it's clearly proudly identifying as Chinese. Nothing not to like really!

I have two Chinese watches.  One is an Explorer type and it is good when taken for what it is.  My favourite is the one that shouts “I’m a Chinese watch”.

I've had amazing luck with all the Sea Gull's I've had
