Anyone else have these symptoms? ๐Ÿ˜„

Just interested in what you all might be up to. Besides buying so many watches too fast, let me tell you what I'm into lately. Yes it is really a little much for sure, so stop reading if you are wondering about getting in even deeper. I figure most of you already are or have been where I am now. These are my 5 current obsessions. 1. Checking watch sellers and seeing if anything is going for a price too good to pass up. 2. Looking for brands of watches that I have not heard of before. Usually just not as popular here in the U.S. , maybe a microbrand, or just for whatever reason under my radar. Of course after I come upon discovery there's the whole - Are they any good? Are they my style? Are they really in my price range? How do they compare with what I know?, and on and on. 3. Going through watch manufacturer website to look at all the models, also if they have multiple sites for international, and/or their own country. 4. This one I can usually cover while doing the previous 2, that is looking for what new and limited watches they are coming out with. 5. Watching the watch video clips on YouTube. Ok so that's about it so far I'll keep you updated on if more symptoms come up. Please tell me your thoughts and where you are with this. I really can't be the only one. I feel like the disease is spreading and I am happily letting it take over. Alright collectors, thanks for letting me rant and please let me hear what you've got going on. If I can expect further symptoms you already know please do tell.๐Ÿ˜„

I check sources almost daily for special deals and undervalued used watches. I try to keep it under $50 - I don't require an expensive watch for satisfaction, clearly. And even then, I've been continually refining my requirements and asking myself if I already have a watch that fulfills the need that this prospective watch would, how much would I wear it, do I really love it or do I just think it's cool, etc. Now a watch really has to WOW me in order for me to consider it.

I also watch YouTube a couple of times per week, all watch stuff.

You might be my brother from another mother! ๐Ÿคฃ Definitely going to follow you to see if there is real DNA, ๐Ÿ˜„

I'm back into 'enjoying the collection as is' and trying not to purchase anything (except for one on its way already). I'm also limiting my YouTube viewing time related to watches.

I'm going to sort through my wishlist and put it into some kind of order. Maybe some will fall off the list. I have some to add. A spreadsheet rather than a simple text list is needed.

I get eBay alerts to some that I'm looking for, but I'm ok just looking for the moment. If a difficult-to-find piece comes up then I'll put some thought into it, but that's why the list needs sorting.

This week I may visit Mr Jones shop to check them out in person, so that I'm comfortable purchasing when I get round to it. Possibly one for the Mrs in a couple of months.

How long have you been infected brother? I looked at Mr. Jones last night! Too much sold out right now but I'll check back - of course! I have a picture of each watch I own on my computer in a spreadsheet as well as tabs that have watch brands that I feel are acceptable or are to be considered and more tabs with watches on my wish list categorized and pictured specs and prices. So yeah I get you man! I๐Ÿ˜ƒ

It's been a long and slow process for me, but covid provided too much time on my hands so I bought in quite a few then.

There are 3 Mr Jones that I like, I figure if I buy one for the Mrs then I get to wear it as a freebie ๐Ÿ˜‰, but yes, I've noticed that many of them are out of stock. If I manage to visit then I'll ask some questions and report back. I have a horrible feeling that I've missed out though.

I have a hunch they will come out with some new stuff that will be great as well. We will be ok! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Iโ€™m an omnivore with all kinds of beautiful. Thatโ€™s my up and downfall. Will it be architecture or whatever kind of art. I dig it the most, only a few I do not like or worse and even thereโ€ฆ there are some in that category that I do like.

So I have a very eclectic collection. Lot of Seiko and Bulova, dress-watches and divers, pilots, beaters and serious tool watches. And a drawer full of funk and junk. There are a few exceptions, I canโ€™t stand Roman numerals. I hate it that I hate it๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜… so I torture myself with a beat up Seiko with Roman numerals. Just like feeding a tot ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿฝ to learn to eat itโ€™s spinach.

I still have to make spread sheets with all data. This is of course an ultimate geek thing to do. Chrono24 warned me several times that my favourite list of 500 is already overdrawn ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. Thank god Iโ€™m not into the expensive watches because the bank will sell my house. ๐Ÿ˜ด goodnight

Wait am I talking to myself? I only have one that has Roman numerals out of my +30 collection. It's a Bulova and I do really like it, but I tend to dislike the Roman numerals as well for watches. Anything that you really love that might have escaped either my collection or bucket list?

But Roman numerals are so classy and have so much history. ๐Ÿ˜‚. I quite like them myself, especially in regards to marine chronometers. But I can see why theyโ€™re not everybodyโ€™s cup of tea.

I YouTube. However, since I had to slow down buying, I now only look at grail videos. The one that I am in love with the the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Everest chronograph dual time. Gorgeous is an understatement

I'm currently in a weird spot. I just purchased a watch and still honeymooning. I know it was a good purchase because I'm not really hunting right now, just casually browsing, which is still dangerous.

At new years I removed instagram from my phone. I find watchcrunch to not be as predatory as instagram cause the lack of ads and more discussion based. The next step is to remove eBay. But I'm selling something, but when that happens, and I remove ebay, hopefully my wants will subside and I can better enjoy.

With that said, I have a long term goal to add "one more" to the collection, but trying to be patient with it. 2 and a half year timeline.

I've been enjoying surfing watchmarket places for future possibilities, new introduction and looking for new and old micros. Bought 2 new Islanders a few months ago to top off the box so I have to wait a minute before I buy another one...two...three "What are we fight for, Don't ask me I don't give a Damm, Next st.....O SHiT!! Sorry about that, gets me every time๐Ÿ˜Ž

ยท

Nice response, thanks, lol. So no limits to quantity?

ยท

I'm "guilty" of 1, 3 & 4.

I don't do You Tube. I mean like if I see a watch that I like and the brand is one I'm not familiar or personally acquainted with (i.e., I have one from the brand), I'll search for written reviews from trusted sources. Like when I went after a Mido 200C or when I finally found a Rado True Square after lusting after one for a while. Attractive with good reviews and from a Swatch Group brand so I knew they were A-OK.

But watch a video from somebody on You Tube? Not my cup of tea.

Just circling back on Mr Jones. I visited the shop today and was told the shop has different stock to online. I asked about the 3 I'm looking at: '...Useless Afternoon' is in tomorrow, 'Paper Crane' is mid-May and 'Ascendant' at the end of May. "Just keep looking at the site" is the advice.

ยท

Oh very cool! Thanks so much for the update. ๐Ÿ˜€

I don't like Roman numerals either, but I have the Seiko SGEG97P1 which has Romans and it's just beautiful.
