Help!

So, recently I have been feeling like I have buyers block. Price range is up too 1200.00$ usd. Looking for 38mm or smaller. Swiss preferred, but not apposed to something else.( French, German, etc) Mechanical or auto. No batteries. Trying to find a chrono/sports, field or diver. The be all end all if you will. Being I am in Alaska with no retailers to go and look, price out or try on I am at a stand still. YouTube can only get me so far. Just looking ideas. Some good testimonials. Some to avoid.

I am so happy I stumbled upon this platform. Thanks all!!!

Chrono - Baltic 002

Diver - Doxa Sub 200, Tissot Seastar

Field - Formex Field, Hamilton Murph

Welcome and so many choices. I can second the Hamilton Murph. Also you might want to look at Christopher Ward as a brand.

·

If you like the 3-6-9 types of watches (100m WR, 36mm, screw down crown), there are the Lorier Falcon that I own and recommend (500$) as well as the Islander Manhasset (285$) that I have offered to my partner and is quite good as well.

·

Why hurry? You're on the road to a hiding if you're desperately looking for the rush of something new. Enjoy whatever you have until something organically jumps out at you. .🤗

My experience and maybe expectations with my Murph were not great. 😱I loved the look, the scale, the finish, the connection to one of my favourite films. But, I found it's flat dial with lack of contrast & very very reflective sapphire made it barely legible in all but perfect conditions . Gutted. (I'm 53 , don't wear glasses tho probably need them, so take the above in that context👴🏻)

Wait, don't hurry. Stumble upon something, fall in love & live happily ever after.....

.... until the next time 🙄🤣

I have been looking into the Manhasset. I just want something other than a nh movement. No issues with it, but it's just a rebranded seiko at that point. I own seiko. Love seiko. But I don't know. I have looked into the lorier as well. Definitely a cool brand in my opinion.

I am picking up what you are laying down. I have waited this long, can wait longer. I just have the funding and the itch haha.

I would get a Hamilton Murph which hits all those boxes!

Indeed it’s fun to experiment with movements. Islander also has the Brockville that has a 9000 series Miyota in it with same 100m WR and 38mm case. Otherwise Nivada Grenchen’s Super Antarctic might be of interest to you (Swiss).

Look into Yema. They have great divers, choice in dimensions, chronos…

And you definitely won’t see many of those in Alaska!

·

Here's a 38mm diver that certainly fits the bill-

Also comes in several other colorways (blue, white and green).

I've been impressed with every CW watch I've seen, especially my C63 Sealander GMT...

Hamilton is your answer here. I’d check out Weiss as well. They have a 38 mm auto field watch. New is out of the range you want to pay, but you can find them on EBay for around $1,200.

·

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned Sinn yet!

·

Is it 'buyer's block' or is it just that you aren't jazzed by what's out there, at present? Put another way, why do you need to buy a watch right now? Why not sit back and wait until something cool passes by?

·

For this price range, I would go for a Sinn 556 or CWard C60 in white!

I recommend trying Hamilton before making a purchase. After so much hype surrounding this brand all over the internet, I was rather disappointed when I tried the khaki and the murph in the metal.

Purposefully stop looking and trying to figure it out, and I bet in a week the answer will just naturally come to you. If not, you really don’t want a new watch!

Most likely the case honestly. Not really interested in anything that is out at the moment. There are definitely a few pieces I would purchase this second. But... I don't have 5k-10k. I'll keep saving and see in a few months. It's definitely not that I NEED to buy, more like I am bored with my collection at the moment and would like to switch things up.

Thank you all for the input and advice. Has opened my eyes to other options I would not have considered. I truly appreciate this community. I must have had a case of tunnel vision. The hunt continues 🏹🦌⌚️⏱️
