Watch recommendations for 3 year old boy?

Is there any watch that is not some plastic Chinese $10 junk. Anything from a normal watch brand that can for on a small toddler wrist.

Thank you.

The Casio F91W. Super affordable, but not junk. Won't give you heartburn if it gets lost or damaged.

Invicta.

Just kidding. What about a Casio F-91W or similar model? I imagine you could trim down the strap so it’s not flapping around everywhere.

Flik Flak is Swiss quality but Walmart has kids watches. They will not be interested in time until they hit school. Until then its just another toy.

Why would a 3 year old need a watch?

It’s always going to be plastic and made in China (or near enough) if it’s suitable for a kid. Also worth thinking if it’s gonna catch on something and be a risk. At that age, it’s more about fun, or being like a hero, or a parent.

With my little one, we got a Tree Fu Tom watch from Vtech. It was fun till the battery wore out — replaced it recently in fact to let it join the collection — and still to this day, doesn’t much like having things on wrist. I think perhaps even in my memory, it’s really not until the start of the teen years that you truly appreciate having a watch. These days I don’t even know if it’s so universal a thing.

So that’s my advice — whatever your kid is into, see if there’s a decent, fun, toy watch that goes with that. Things like the VTech even has built in games, and sounds which add to the appeal… but with VTech’s base in education as well, you will get things geared towards using to tell the time. In Tree Fu Tom case, it spoke the time, had a MIPS screen with both an analogue option and a digital option, date, timer, and simple games on an elasticated Velcro fastening strap.

Not gonna lie, put those features in a G-Shock and make it water resistant (it wasn’t, though perhaps a kids watch should be) and it would sell to adults. Without the Tree Fu admittedly.

So if it’s Ben 10 or Paw Patrol, or Thunderbirds are Go, or Disney Princesses, go and see what is on offer.

Then, when they are a bit older, look at a tikkers or similar. Like clothes, it’s not worth spending a ton on something that will get wrecked or grown out of.

I'm not sure he's old enough for this, but Blok watches for kids are fantastic.

Give him a cheap $10 quartz piece from China. At that age, he’s more likely to take it off his wrist and use it than for anything meaningful. Take it from the parent of a 6 year old girl.

At 7 my son started wearing an automatic watch. His first automatic was a seiko, at 9 he wanted a watch on a bracelet so I got him an orient Tristar. He has never taken the watches off his wrist, sleeps with it, plays hockey with it, goes to school with it. He also started wearing a watch at age 3. His watches from 3-7 were all character based quartz watches.

Why would a 3 year old need a watch?

He is interested in every watch that he encounters , trying to wind them and put them on his wrist. And it is not a one time thing . He does it every time he see a man with a watch or on a video or on a wall.

I want to keep the obsession going who knows maybe he will a great watch maker some day.

This was a great recommendation and made a great present. He is sleeping with the watch now. Thank you.
