Kurono GMT 1

This is coming soon. Do i need it in my life? Don't know. What do you all think?

I usually quite enjoy their design language but this one seams a bit un-cohesive to me. The date window especially looks like an afterthought.

So not really my style this one but cool seeing them do a gmt.

It's a striking

·

Not my cup of tea. Maybe the next release…

When the announcement email first hit my inbox, I was blown away. However, I’ve continued to look at it and scrutinize the design.

The inner 24-hour markers on the dial are practical (a stationary 24-hour reference), but their presence somewhat takes away from the bezel.

The steel bezel is unique. I like the idea and most of the execution, but its shape and size aren’t quite as elegant as the rest of the watch.

The font for the numerals is retro yet refined, but the dial text looks a bit cluttered.

The dimensions are solid, but (without seeing it in person) I kind of wish the lug-to-lug was a touch shorter.

The specifications also leave a bit to be desired. It’s only 50m water resistant, there’s no screw-down crown, and for some reason they decided to go with a friction bezel, and I’m not sure how I feel about it (I have faith that it will work well, but I think I’d prefer a 24-click).

All that being said, something still appeals to me about this watch. Maybe it would be better to wait for the next iteration, but I’ve had my eye on Kurono Tokyo for years, and my collection is only missing a GMT at this point. I just might have to go for it.

Hmm - left in the oven too long, at least for me. I am sure there will be admirers though. 👍

·

I thought their concept of a GMT made for the office/business attire was novel.

The execution is in line with Kurono's designs, but I think I'd still pick other GMT styles over the thr numbers for the 24 time feels too small or crowded.

·

The GMT execution feels weird. Inner 24 hour ring with a small GMT hand but also has a rotating 24 hour bezel is kind of odd to keep track of time easily.

The case design and the bezel finishing looks beautiful though.

·

Do… we… really need dates on GMTs …. After all we just need a different time zone to track not necessarily the date … just sayin …

·

Thanks for all your comments. I have been thinking about getting into this brand for a while now. In my opinion, this model dial is a little over kill with all the numerics + bezel too. Then there is the date to top it up. I love the color combo and dimensions though. I just wish it's a little bit less on the dial. I think I will also wait for upcoming models. Cheers!

I agree. I feel like a smaller bezel and larger dial would’ve balanced things out without compromising on the intentions of the design.

It's definitely handy to have a GMT when travelling. I love mixing it up. Micro brands these days are getting pretty nice. Traska is pretty cool in the GMT space. :)

Agree. Too many numerics.

·

He'll yeah you do 🤣

·

I like it, but I wonder about its size. I believe the Kudokes I have seen are 38mm which is just too small for me.

·

It's a lovely thing for sure.

·

Looks awesome, nicely different. Except for the date window (always the damn date window) besides that 👌

Agree!

There's a LOT going on in that design. Like, so much that I think initial impressions are, "Wow, look at that!" but over time it might become more, "Gosh, that really is a lot, and it doesn't all gel..."
