1973 Skyliner Vintage - Manual Wind

The very first Kintsugi Dial that I made with Applied Gold plated indices. The case is from a vintage Seiko Skyliner, Which I believe is a 1973 model. The movement was in good shape, serviced and running well. Hand-wound not automatic. Loved the case shape and the crown. The top hat acrylic crystal was replaced with a NOS seiko crystal.

The case definitely has got some scratches and dents, but since its a vintage I decided to leave it with the scars it has accumulated over the decades. I really like how the indices and the gold cracks play with the light, each at its own angle, the watch always shimmers. Thank you for having a look.

I keep looking on your site to see what you've been making. I love the salmon dial watch you've done.

I love the dials you have on there too. I've contemplated getting one, but I've given @Gasworks so much shit about replacing original watch dials in the past that I don't think he'd let me live it down.

Well, I do share your reservations, especially when it comes to the Salmon dial especially since it came from a perpetual calendar watch. But it really does look good, and it was a labor of love to make that dial work with the movement. I also have something against Seiko when it comes to purposefully using a beautiful dial, or handset, etc in a lack luster case, or with some ugly component just so they reserve "complete packages" to higher end Seikos or Grand Seikos. I believe as long as a swap is done thoughtfully with honesty to maintain build quality, its okay. Of course thats just my opinion, I understand people being against it.

I have to check your comments to Gasworks, I think there will be some laughs in them. Thank you for checking out my work, whether you purchase or not I really appreciate the comment.

I serviced & refurbished this

So it looks like this.

The dial has a missing index so I will be fitting this dial and hands (In fairness I didnt make them).

@Deeperblue thinks I'm the devil incarnate for this heresy... but apparently when you do it, it's all marvelous.

I would have done the 'Build a watch' you have on the website by now if I had any imagination at all, but I need to actually see a watch in the complete package to know if I'll like it. Some of your past builds are just insanely beautiful, so I keep an eye out for just the right one.

And yes, I have plenty of laughs for Gasworks 😆

That is a beautiful job you've done. You're refinishing kept the lines of the case and the shape established. Beautiful work.

Thank you my friend. I appreciate that. This is a 37mm watch. This isn't a GS, its a Seiko Skyliner, and I changed the dial to one I made.
