I've been meaning to do this post for a while! In praise of the work of my friend Gareth @GasWorks
Despite being from Wales ( and we shouldn't hold that against him) he now resides near me in Essex so conveniently close for beer and watch purchases!
That will be six over the eighteen months or so. All vintage seikos bar a Citizen Eagle 7 that sneaked in somehow.
The seikos all date from the 70s and 80s and if you like that kind of thing you will know what I mean when I say the design and functionality just speaks to me!
I Wore the below to my eldest daughters wedding last September
And the others are part of my regular rotation
I Like a blue dial, as does Gareth as a lot of his rescue donkeys have a blue face
My absolute favourite is this little gem below
Simple and classic and often commented on when I wear it.
In addition to his many vintage seiko restorations Gareth sympathetically restored my fathers/grandpa's pocket watch
free of charge which was very kind of him
Gareth will be well known to lots of you from his posts on vintage seiko restoration and I know he has lots of fans on this forum and more than a few of you have bought some of his pieces.
I met Gareth through Watchcrunch when I was very new to the hobby and following the first of many beers I have learnt a lot about horology and in particular vintage watches.
He is entirely self taught and his work is astonishing.
To me it's almost a kind of magic to turn an old bag of spanners purchased on ebay into the fantastic vintage pieces I and many others have purchased!
There was a recent post about influences for watch enthusiasts which seemed to mainly focus on you tube and the Internet.
My main influencer and source of knowledge is my friend Gareth.
We meet up, drink beer and talk watches. That's got to be a good thing I'm sure you would agree?
If you have purchased gasworks little donkeys please share your pictures below?
An enthusiast and collector for two and a half years. Got it worse now than when I fell down the rabbit hole! The more I learn the greater my affliction becomes... A particular interest in titanium di...

You have some nice looking watches
You have some nice looking watches
They come from a great restorer!
I meant to copy in @hakki501 and @DeeperRed to this post apologies. Also Will the Barister but I can't find you!
Thank you Craig.
It's hugely rewarding to know that the little watches I refurbish are appreciated and looked after.
It makes crawling around the floor cursing, whilst looking for a spring smaller than an eyelash that's disappearance was apparently a quantum jump, all worthwhile.
Very classy assortment! 👌🏻
@GasWorks is a gentleman through and through!
Mine from the Gasworks Health Spa is from October 1972.

@Scooby Another Gareth customer I believe?
You have a wonderful GasWorks collection Craig 👌
As a member of the Mad Welshman Club i can let it slide you have one of our brothers across the border, I am sure @GasWorks gets regular care packages of Welshcakes is allowed to sing at the top of his voice on match day (rugby of course) 😀
I am yet to be introduced to @GasWorks but i know i like him already he's Welsh 😉 I am from Cardiff don't hold it against me, I do have one your own however by stealing my lovely wife from Kent some 10 years ago with her parents following just a few years ago so i feel balance in the force 😀
Being a #seiko #vintageseiko guy myself i can say what a lovely little collection well done mate i look forward to us all having a good laugh here normally at our expense!! 😀
Not as an impressive collection as yours Craig, but these are my GW's.
I love them all ❤
Beautiful watches! Didn't know you had so many!

The two Citizens were Donkeys I rescued and took to Gareth for rehabilitation. I think he may have put them out of their misery if I hadn't asked him to save them 😆

You can't tell now though! I'm hoping he finds some more citizens!

That one on the green strap was pretty much the first watch I completely refurbished and serviced. It couldn't have ended up on a better, more appreciative wrist.
That Citizen was a bu99er to polish... and is impossible to read due to facetted crystal. Mighty pretty though.
The only masterpiece I got so far from Master Gareth @GasWorks, is this May 1970 Seiko DX 6106C-8240.
Before...
...and After.
Apologies for the many photos. I just love taking portraits of this stunning beauty.
Simply stunning!!
My ego is liking this post. Thank you all... your kind words mean a great deal. ❤
I'm speechless.
I'm speechless.
I'm going to do a part 2 as I've recently purchased an Actus SS from Gareth and I'm waiting on him finishing a Bellmatic that has been causing him a few issues. I think my watch addiction has a separate condition all of its own thanks to @GasWorks
Thrilled to join the GAS 😊
Seiko 6119-5520 (1975)
My first vintage piece, and what a beautiful job Gareth has done with this 🥰👏👏
The dial is positively mesmerising, it’s running really well, day/date functioning perfectly, really clean and so neat 👌
This little beauty has been on my wrist every day since it arrived; absolutely delighted with it
🥰🔥
I feel sure this won’t be the last little donkey from the sanctuary to join my collection…
Thank You Gareth, I love it ⭐️🤝

Rely on brand name and clever marketing to overinflate my prices? What am I? Rolex??
🤨🤭
Maybe I'll introduce a lower budget offering... call it TwoDoor and use that as another mechanism to hike Gasworks prices even further 😎

I like your thinking. I was thinking of gasworks as being more of a safe option.....Durex perhaps?
