New Longines

I’m sure someone already posted this but Longines releases a new model today. A Conquest Heritage with a central power reserve indicator. I think it looks amazing. Website says $3800. I’m not in the market for one at the moment but it’s a very interesting design. Looks like 3 colorways. Opinions? Thoughts?

I like it! Putting the power reserve in the center is genius. My only gripe is the missing brand logo and the date window is at the 12 instead of the 6.

Yeah, that power reserve wheel looks cool. Kinda reminds a little like a Rolex Skydweller dial look

I think the date placement would make it a no go for me, but it otherwise looks fantastic.

·

That power reserve indicator is a new unique look

Longines seems to be on a roll lately. This is sharp. That date at the 12 nearly kills it. But I would rock this any day!

·

Now that's a power reserve I LIKE, not just accept

I can see the date placement being a sticking point for a lot people. I don’t mind it , as it’s something u dont see whole lot these days

Think the black is my favorite - it feels the most modern, with the high contrast text and markers. Champagne would be a close second but feels more in line with the heritage aspect.

I for one like the date placement. I’d prefer no date at all but happy it’s just not at the 3 o’clock… or god forbid the 4:30 as it would be straight to jail.

That black and silver dial does look neat as hell

It's hard to see something new with great aesthetics , Longines does it very well, and don't mind the date at all, although it's something I don't use or even set on a watch.

Same here. None of my watches ever have the correct date. Not a function I use and recently, I have chosen watches with no date window . Though I do appreciate it when it’s done well

·

I love it

I see that many crunchers are not fond of the date position at 12. However, since 12 is the most prominent spot on the dial, with the index often highlighted in some way (larger numeral, number vs. baton, colour, precious material) even in watches without a date complication, I quite like the idea. Now those so inclined may even get a three watch collection: this one, Mido Multifort TV Big Date and the reverse panda TAG Heuer Carrera Glassbox.

Longines once again showing how to fuse classic and modern.

Too big and flat for my tastes but stunning dial design.

Longines restored and sold one of the 35mm 60s originals recently.

I was literally about to do a post about this, I think it is absolutely stunning, specifically in the colour way you have pictured, I just don't know whether it's quite pretty enough for the 3.5k asking price

Yeah… it’s $3,800 here ::. That’s up there

Gonzo, This a beautiful watch. Very stylish. Is it for me? No... but I appreciate its intricacies. The "bulls-eye" power reserve is a great touch. The wonderful contrasting colors and layout are pleasant to eye. Thanks for introducing it to me.

The price is keeping me away at the moment… but as long as I don’t come across it in person.. I should be able to resist

Nice watch. Seems pricey for a Longines. I suppose it would depend on the movement, materials and finishing. Also, the date is oddly placed.

I think Longines is started to raise their price bracket.. this is $3800 and a lot of their newer releases are over $3k… I’ve gotta say though, my experience with the ZULU time has been magnificent.. it was over $3k as well.. but the finishing is remarkable. I was very impressed

Yes, they are great watches. It’s just the prices that seem to be shooting up!

You think they’re trying to get to like a Tudor price level…? that’s what it seems like to me

Yes, I think they have felt undervalued for a long time and have been putting out some very high quality pieces in recent years to remind people that they are a significant brand. I suspect they may try to reduce the cheaper “mall” type watches and increasingly produce for the luxury watch market. But of a gamble, I think. Seiko are also on an upward price curve - though they are being a bit more careful, I think.

Man.. I hadn’t even thought about them getting rid of the cheaper stuff in their catalog. Great point and I can totally see them go that route. Perhaps the proliferation of microbrands with offering around the $1,500 and under range has also pushed them to go upstream

Yes, wouldn’t surprise me. They make great watches but they are very squeezed im the mid-point section. I guess it’s down or up unless they fancy taking on Citizen, Seiko, Oris and Timex ‘til the eve of time!
