Field Watch Suggestions

Hello Crunchers,

Like the title says currently currently looking for a good field watch. I'm slowly ramping my collection up and my first watch purchase a year ago was this Timex Expedition. Which I have daily worn and its looking it. Looking for a similar style but upping the quality.

I've been looking at the Hamilton Khaki Field as it tick a lot of my boxes, but would love something that shows the date.

Must haves for the watch:

-36 to 40mm, I have small slender wrists

-cream or white or white face preferred

-nato strap

Open to any suggestions. Looking to keep it under 700 but 800 would by top end. Thanks in advance!

I was ready to suggest something until you said "cream or white dial," as I had the perfect Hammy substitute. Good luck, I'm sure you'll gets lots of advice!

It is a bit different, and you may need to get your own strap, as, I think, it only comes with a bracelet. But take a look anyway. This one has white mother of pearl dial, but they also have a white dial. I like it a lot.

No, I do not as I'm saving for an Omega watch. But I visited their store about 6 months ago and I tried this watch on. I liked how it looked and felt.

I’ve got the blacked out moonphase version and love it, they’re also easy to deal with.

·

I have an example

Issues:

No date

Maybe roughly same quality as Timex though VH31 movement is higher beat quartz, closer to sweep second hand.

Pros:

White face

36 mm

Cheap: $79

Feels much much better than price would suggest.

Militado seems to be sub-brand to Baltany, who have automatic movement field watch options, but lack date and white/cream dial options.

Check out the Citizen Garrison Eco/Drives. Lots of choices. Personally I don’t like the date window placement on most of them (which is why I bought a Bulova without a date window), but your opinion is the only one that matters.

How about this Christopher Ward, it’s as close to a Field watch that they do, comes on a NATO and ticks your box for case size and colour. Decent watches too 👍https://www.christopherward.com/watches/c63-sealander-automatic/C63-39ADA3-S00W1-TK.html

Ive considered the Garrison. I dont love the font on it which I know is such a weird complaint lol.

The bulova hatch. Do you have much experience with it?

I just bought the Bulova (96A259) about a week ago. Do I wish it were a 40mm instead of a 38mm, yes, it would work better with my wrist size, but other than that I'm very happy with it.

Any models you like in particular?

I would consider three different ones: the Venture Automatic, Expedition II El Capitan and the GMT Banff. When I finally pull the trigger on another field watch, I will starting with one of these three.

I've narrowed it between either the Ivory Venture or I am going to get a the Khaki Field.

Thank you for the excellent suggestion. I wasnt aware of this brand and it ticks all my boxes but having a date.

The fit and finish is exceptional 👌🏻

The white dial Seiko Alpinist would fit the price point and I love my green alpinist (SPB121). However, it is better on a strap than a NATO, being a rather tall watch for it's size. On a distressed leather strap, it is awesome!

Thats a beautiful watch!! I love that.
