The AP Barn Find
It's not often that I go to estate sales for watch hunting. I'm not much of a vintage guy and my knowledge of what's worth taking a risk on and what's not is mediocre at best.
But on a quiet and sunny Sunday afternoon, I passed a big house with an estate sale sign outside and decided to pop my head in. Sometimes you can surprise yourself.
Behold, the Audemars Piguet Barn Find in black ceramic and gold.

If I were a more devious person (and this was 2021), I would 100% seen just how much money I could have extracted from someone for an AP candle.

Oilfield/rancher/wind energy/been-there-done-it type. Only AP I've seen out in the wild too.
Bought it for fun when he visited NYC once. Never asked how he did that, next time we have coffee I might see what the story is. I'm guessing at a certain net worth, most don't say no to you.
Dailies his SKX009 on an aftermarket jubilee, and will talk your ear off about obscure Seiko SQ references he should have bought when he was stationed in Japan 😂.
