I'm on the reservation list for the salmon dial Perception... but 95% sure I'm gonna actually pull the trigger. Honestly, I'm pretty ambivalent about the Dandong SL1588 movement! If they'd put a Miyota or Seiko or Sellita in there, I'd happily buy 5 watches, for the guilloche dial alone. But, just don't want to end up with a watch that doesn't work, sporting a Chinese movement that nobody can work on.

Also, welcome, fellow Grand Seiko addict!
And where did you get that gorgeous strap from???
You are not being paranoid. It is one thing to take a $500 flyer on a Seagull, it is entirely different when we are talking $3000, but damn is it a great watch otherwise.

Like, if they had just put a Seiko NH35 in it, it would be perfect! I don't have any 70's integrated bracelet watches, so it would be the perfect addition, and that dial!!!
I don't know... I guess if it stopped working, it would still be a nice piece of jewelry on the wrist. But, the whole point of watches is that we can PRETEND that we're into the watch for its horology, and not have to admit to ourselves that we like wrist jewelry.

You know better than that. If they did that, there would be a stream of “cannot believe they are charging $3k for a NH35. My <insert shitty kickstarter brand> has that for $250 early bird special.” It is a no win scenario for the beautiful dial. Perhaps a 90s5 or a 9039. We could then justify it with, “well if it is good enough for Kurono, it is good enough for this.”

You have hit the nail on the head!
That dial is only available on watches costing > $10k
And that dial is typically paired with some big name in-house movement
But, I don't want an in-house movement!!!
I wonder if Atelier Wen would be willing to sell me the case and dial, and then let me put in my own Sellita? Wouldn't that be amazing???

Sweeeeet collection there! I have been wanting a GS diver for a while now! That SBGK015 is so sweet!
Hopefully trials go well for Seikoxone/Seikodone and weboth will have a solution soon! 😂
I was programmed and never wanted to go outside major brands & “Swiss made.“ Then I got myself to broaden my horizons and went over to “Japan made.” Next logical step seems “China Made” lol.
I have no idea. Would love the new one but the price is a bit nutty! Honestly I do not understand the difference between each of the diver models
Ha! Okay, here's a simple guide to GS divers:
There are quartz, mechanical, and spring drive divers
And, then, amongst those, there are stainless steel or titanium versions of each
If you have a normal-sized wrist, like me (6.75"), I would suggest going with a titanium version - the divers are all like 44mm, so the only way they're comfortable for me is if they're made of light-weight titanium
Finally, I have the spring drive divers SBGA463 and SLGA015
Why do I have two, nearly identical, black, spring drive GS divers? Don't ask!
Anyway, the only real difference between the two is the SLGA015 has the 120-hour power reserve, the textured dial, and the new Evolution 9 case design - but to any regular human being, they're identical!
Hope that helps!
Hey, you're in Orange County! If you're ever down in San Diego, come on by, and we can geek out over watches, drink some cocktails, and you can try the GS divers on-wrist to see if you like 'em or not!

Thanks! I agree with you on going with titanium. I just got a zenith defy classic skeleton in titanium as my first Ti watch and I love it. Especially the way Ti reflects light & colors differently.
Yea I am in OC. I will message you to get your contact and we can meet up sometime!

I like your triple-combo of upcoming watches. What colors did you choose on the Atelier Wen and Anordain?
I went with blue and a grey fume. I was thinking grey for the AW because of the blue hands but decided the blue dial is where its at!
Welcome!! That right there is an all-time grail watch for me, just painfully beautiful. Excellent strap pairing too 👌

Thank you! It is beautiful, the case and lugs are to die for!

Was thinking the same. Likely need to find the right movement holder, but I am sure it is not that bad for a time only piece.

Welcome, Dynomite! Great choices coming your way soon, let us know about the Bel Canto and Anordain please!
