Best automatic field watch

Hi all

I am looking to buy my first field watch, preferably an automatic, what would you suggest as the best one to buy, and why?

I look forward to your suggestions

I hear a lot of people rave about Hamilton field watches.

Just about everybody is pumping out field watches at this point. If I had to narrow it down to some of my preferred brands for that style it would be Seiko, Vaer & Hamilton.

Depends a little on what you’re going to be doing with it. For my wallet, if I wanted it on a bracelet and I’m not going to be too hard on it then yes the Hamilton is tops. If it’s going to have a hard life and you’re not looking for a bracelet then I’d look at the Timex Expedition North which can be had for a good bit less than RRP. If it’s going to take an absolute pounding then, for an automatic, I’d look at Seiko but Citizen does have some good Eco-drive field watches that can be had for v low money. Take your time and enjoy the search as that’s a big part of the fun.

A tool watch, which is about as good. Love that one.

I love my Timex Expedition North Field Mechanical! What you see here is about the most action it has seen so I can't speak on the toughness, but it looks and feels great!

Thanks for the suggestions guys, sorry for the late reply, but just got my first and hopefully last taste of Covid. All good now and can start looking for my field watch
