Small but beautiful.

I picked up my Cartier Tank Américaine medium automatic yesterday.  It may be the single most beautiful watch I’ve ever seen.

The watch itself is a pretty decent size.  The space between the lugs doesn’t leave much space for a very wide strap.  It feels like a 14mm.  Very dainty.  I‘ve worn enough vintage watches to be comfortable with the size and I think this will be amazing with a suit.

My biggest problem with this watch is that I brought my wife to the AD to pick it up.  She immediately claimed it as her own.  It looks great on her wrist.  I can’t complain.    Fortunately, there is enough length in the strap that we both can wear it.

Happy wife, happy life!

The Tank Americaine is one of those watches that I feel is so beautiful that Cartier should have given it its own line.  I think it would be 10x as popular if the other Tank models weren't such iconic designs.

I kind of think of it as an attainable Tank Cintrée, which I never expect to own (or perhaps even see in person).  They are both very different from the Tank Must but the Must is actually the newer design.

I think it‘s pretty neat that it’s something you both can wear. Enjoy it.

Keep showing pictures of it and I may stop trolling @Edge168n for his hideous Roadster. This has style.

I agree the Cintrée is awesome, but your Américaine looks fantastic.

Congratulations!

Wow! Lucky you didn't end up having to buy 2 watches, Cartier is a dangerous place to shop together in!

Good choice. I like the case proportions better than the standard Tank.

She’s still playing the long game to get hold of my Bulgari Octo as well.  In the meantime, she also has this in the mail.  I love that my wife and I share an interest in watches but damn, there’s a cost to it.  LOL

She should buy her own.

I would let this be a watch bonding, win win!

She should buy her own.

We trade watches back and forth frequently.  Fortunately, the Cartier strap will allow both of us to wear it without even a strap change, which is a bit unusual considering the difference in our wrist sizes.

She offered to give me the Zenith New Vintage 1965 but she wears that one a lot so I’m not going to take it from her.  We have more of a “current rotation“ situation rather than a “mine/yours“ relationship.

Hello, my Americaine brother!

I agree it’s an awesome watch. I’m surprised at how versatile it is - it goes along with anything between a suit and a long sleeve T-shirt.
