My Sentimental Piece

Not many may like this Tag Heuer piece, but this was a gift from my brother when i graduated from University.

This watch was there when i was jobless, looking for jobs and being rejected in interview. When i finally got an interview, i wore a suit with this watch. Got the job and a year later i got a promotion, and became a department trainer. Even wore this watch with me during my department trainer exams.

This watch means a lot to me and i will never sell or trade this watch.

Tag Heuer makes great watches. I really like the current generation F1 pieces, very sporty yet elegant.

Congrats on your achievements so far and wish you the very best in the future too!

·

I'm a big believer in the idea that every watch purchase you make is simply trying to chase the feeling of the first watch you ever owned and loved.

What better way to honor the legacy than holding on to the old favorites?

·

Off Top ,Tag Heuer makes great products.  They have had their moments sure - name a brand we can't poke holes into their image facade.  I could load up here with examples but I digress.  Latest Tag Heuer in house products are very compelling. Your watch is killer. I would buy and wear it a lot. Your brother is awesome. I've given many watches as gifts to include a Tag Heuer. Giving a watch as a gift for me is a symbol of time you value spent with the person receiving the watch. That's a bit of legacy you are wearing

I love this Tag. I have one just like it and it's one of my favorites! I will never part with it either.

Don’t fall into the trap of worrying what other people think especially watch enthusiast, I am learning more and more that there is a section of colletors that are extremely opinionated without even owning a peace that they are commenting on, certain brands are not looked on as fondly as others but remember that is only their opinion, my wife bought me my Tag F1 for my 40th birthday and I have to say it is one of my favourites not only for the Sentimental reasons, you have a fantastic watch my friend 👍

·

the Sentimental value makes that watch priceless! I too have a few Tag’s for one I have a Chrono that’s been with me for 20 years it was an engagement present from my soon to be wife at that time and that watch has been through tough times with me as well. Enjoy the journey and collect more and have memories!

I thunk Tag Heuer catches more heat than they deserve. Sure they've had a few overpriced duds but some of their watches are still great. I like yours a lot man and can't beat the story that goes with it 👍

I don't care for most TAG's , but that's a great looking watch.

Never saw one before- Do you have a model number for it?

Given the history I can understand where some of the negative attitude is coming from. However, if you look at what is offered today, they are actually producing rather attractive watches.

My first "real" watch was this very F1 model, and I bought it because of this gentleman here:

Please notice one prominent sponsor on the arm of Mr. Ayrton Senna, it will be relevant for this story.
I will keep this post short so I will just say that he was a huge deal for me back in the 90s. Back then the coolest Tag a kid could have were these:

I know that is just a different version of a Swatch but, considering the financial situation of my parents, these watches were unobtainable. But thanks to them I got my Software Engineer degree.... you know... priorities (thanks mom and dad!!).
So, before even I started to collect watches I saw this piece here in a jewelry store:

IMHO, the similarities were indisputable. I remember sharing a tear when I realized that I spend my childhood craving for that token of my idol believing that I could never have one and then when I grew up I simply went to the store and bought one, just like that.

That watch lived and left years ago, way before I started to collect watches. That Tag was a sizable chunk of metal and I passed the watch to my younger brother (1.90 m younger brother, just to put it in perspective).

Anyways, amazing watch.

Thank you for the comment, glad to see a piece with authentic history.

Another proud owner of an F1 here :) oddly enough, I “won” this from watchgang and would have likely never purchased myself. That said, I ended up picking my wife up an aquaracer due to her ability to put up with my hobby and repated expenditures.

Personally I think tag heuer receives a lot of criticism from individuals that have likely never owned one or who are focused on shortcomings such as their bracelets. I too wondered if the workmanship was quality or if the current image was based on their excessive marketing practices. Having experienced this watch for close to a year now, I must say it is a fine implementation of the 2824-2 with fantastic dial finishing.

TGV did a great video on tag heuer where he visited their factory and would recommend for haters and lovers alike!

I've owned my F1 since 1994 and have worn it with pride. It's a really well-made piece.

Yeah, I remember thinking how different it was from all of my other watches at the time. It felt really precision. I remember driving up to Bryce Canyon, UT from my college town the day I got it to meet my girlfriend for a rendezvous. I was admiring it on my wrist while gripping the steering wheel and feeling this burst of happiness from the recent purchase.

This is me during my graduation 😅

That was for sure a proud moment and the great memories.
