Servicing my OP at Rolex - how much does it cost?

Just in case you're wondering how much it costs to service my pre-owned 2008 OP directly with Rolex in London. They told me the watch is in excellent shape and didn't need any polishing or refinishing so they knocked off around £100 from the £550 they normally charge.

There was no previous service history with Rolex so we're assuming it's hasn't ever been serviced.

That’s pretty affordable 👍

That's actually cheaper than I thought it would be to service a Rolex, nice

I’ve recently had the same experience, with an older model that unfortunately cost me a bit more but I’m happy I did. It was a 1988 datejust that had never been looked after or serviced. Turns out the crown had to be replaced. So full service, completely cleaned and polished, new crown and gaskets here and there. Brand new! 🔥

Amazing they'll service a 35 year old watch!

Hmmm.. That's surprisingly inexpensive. Interesting.

I’m pretty sure the servicing cost is pretty affordable. It’s when parts need to be replaced that’s things get more expensive. Way cheaper than I thought it would be from the start though. Nice!

Yeah good point, if it needs new parts then who knows how much it would be 😅

I assume “complete overhaul” in this case refers to the servicing of the movement, right?

I'm guessing yes, they didn't add any more detail as I got the quote by email the next day after dropping off the watch in person. Probably a disassembly, cleaning and reassembly.

Pretty much…I believe there’s several parts they replace regardless of actual wear and tear (gaskets, mainspring, crown, and some wheels)

This is shockingly cheap for a movement overhaul from Rolex official service center…I was quoted overal $800 for a movement overhaul on a 14270 Explorer several years back

Makes sense. Just checking

I was asked for an extra to replace the crown, besides the standard checkup charge

Do not refinish Case and Bracelet -104.17

Ha ha, they charge to NOT do something, lmao! Tell you what, I'll charge you $50 to not do anything to your watch, I'm a bargain!

Well that's a negative number mate so it's a discount 😉

As with everything else- You get what you pay for.

That's good imho - I paid £490ish to get my 2015 Seamaster 300 heritage serviced and a crown repair. The most painful bit was the 3 months waiting!!
