The Neglected Gem

🌟 Last night was a delightful surprise! 🍷 Invited by friends for drinks and dinner, I couldn’t help but notice my friend’s latest addition to his watch collection – a stunning Rolex Daytona Sundust! 😍After a few glasses of cava🥂the conversation flowed as we admired its beauty, and I even got to try it on. ✨ Its dial danced with the light, leaving me mesmerized. I would have never imagined it would have worn so beautifully.

But amidst the allure of the Daytona, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride in my trusty Speedtimer. ⌚ Despite its modesty compared to the iconic Rolex, it’s been a reliable companion through countless moments.

As the night progressed, my friend revealed that the Daytona was his least worn watch. Could you imagine his reasons? 🤔 And what about yours? What’s keeping you from wearing your most precious timepiece?

You can wear your watch at all times without looking over your shoulder. That's got to be worth something.

·

His reasons were likely:

Too big

Too flashy

Safety concerns

What's keeping me? It's broken & I just haven't gotten it fixed

On my wrist I didn’t find it neither too big or too flashy. Safety concerns I can imagine. Get yours fixed!!!!

The safety aspect would be number one for me.

Definitely would constantly feel like a target with that on. Wouldn’t wear it much either

I start to see a pattern here!

The Daytona can be ”accused” of a lot of things but Too big is not one of them.

Getting damaged, stolen, or both.

Also, more precious ⌚ will command more attention.

Love this post, and pride in your #seiko ! I was actually going to buy the exact same Daytona but there was something wrong with my bank account 😂....anyways love that Speedtimer and thinking of picking up a SSK023 for myself here in the next few week! Wear it well!!

Rolex comes with a little baggage is my guess?

to be fair - maybe he is planning to sell it so that could also be a reason, worry about adding more scratches.

Speedtimer is awesome, a happy panda face, and doesn't have those screw down pushers that will constantly foil you when you want to quickly time something! 👍

Doesn't apply to me. My 2 priciest watches are my most worn watches by a solid margin. No baggage watches 😌

The Speedtimer is great, an icon in its own right. And there's nothing stopping me from wearing my most precious timepiece, I wear it almost every day, the one I love most I want to have to most memories attached to it when I pass it down to my kids, they won't care about a watch in a box they'll care about the watch they can see on my wrist in pictures and memories dating back years and years

The Daytona is a nice watch…but if I could afford it, I’d probably get something else. Never saw the point of screw lock pushers.

The only complaint about the Speedtimer is I wish it had a 12 hr register instead of a 24 hour indicator.

And I agree with everyone else, a Daytona is now too recognizable to the wrong people and not something I would choose to wear in all situations now. Sometimes low key low profile watches are more enjoyable.

·

Had my Daytona for a few years now. I wear it as part of a regular rotation of my watches. I think its only beem recognized maybe two or three times in that time frame. Wear it and don't worry about it.

Theft magnet?

We live in a beautiful, quiet wealthy but relatively low crime tiny German city. I thing I’d feel save wearing my #rolex, but that’s me!

Theft magnet?

Is it that with all #rolex ?

Is that an after market bracelet you got for your seitona? It’s lovely does it have quick release?

Also your Korean #pitzmann I’d recognize that from kilometers away 🤪

Aren’t all #rolex recognizable?

You may recognize the Pitzmann as a, watch enthusiast, but most thieves aren't enthusiasts and even at watch owners meets most never heard of the microbrand and didn't recognize my watch, so consider yourself part of a, privileged minority 👍🏽

Yeah it's good 👍🏽

Is it that with all #rolex ?

No. The highly recognizable, desirable and expensive Submariner, Daytona, and GMT Master are the magnets.

Datejusts and Day-Date are magnets only if they are yellow gold. In this case it is the gold, not the watch, that attracts thieves. Gold applies to any brand
