This Citizen has unfortunately disappointed ☹️☹️

I have 2 huge scratches right across the sapphire crystal, and some pretty rough gouges on the smooth bezel. I honestly am shocked... I have done harder and more laborious work with lesser pieces that stood up better to it... Ultimately though, battlescars give us character!! Even in watch form!

Just a Itty Bitty scratch that you can almost not see.

Out of curiosity, work near concrete corners or in/around cinder blocks?

Also here's my Neptune SIII, zero Polywatch since '21.

If it scratches, it ain’t sapphire

Unless the manufacturer put outer AR over the sapphire. In which case they should burn in flames.

Lug change damage caused by some fool (me)

Sapphire is not scratch proof, only resistant. This must be some cheaper version or something

Even better. 😂.

Just my .02¢, EVERYTHING scratches, burns, melts, explodes....given enough heat, scratches, explosives, etc. YMMV. 👀🤏🏻😜😆

And jokes aside, edges, especially 3d corners bring grief to watches in general. The sharper the worse it seems from my experience.

Scratches are a bummer but like you said, it gives it character. My ocd would get a new crystal immediately, but that's just me.

·

Wear it with pride. Field watches were originally meant for military use. The scratches over time will tell a more interesting story.

It's a common misconception because sapphire does scratch.

To scratch sapphire, it has to be something harder than sapphire, so it is possible but rare. You're not going to scratch it with everyday use or even everyday abuse. You're going to have be in some weird industrial environment with super-hard cutting tools.

Wow... it surely hit hard and long while moving those coolers and freezers. On one hand, it's a bummer. You can replace the crystal if you choose to. On the other hand, as @swordinthestone mentioned, #fieldwatches are meant for tough battles and will leave battle scars. 🤜🏼🤛🏼

Interestingly, my 19-year old Columbia CL-1312 #fieldwatch doesn't have those kinds of long scratches. But it does have 3 small chips in the crystal as it connects to the bezel. One at 23-seconds, one at 26-seconds...

...and a slightly bigger one at 33.5 seconds...

My SNKL41 has scratches on its bezel between 11 and 12, and between 6 and 7...

Nope, nothing exotic in my case since it just involved an unfortunate encounter with a concrete wall.

Sapphire is not un-scratchable, even Citizen are only claiming that their sapphire crystal has enhanced scratch resistance.

I wish I could find the casio I wore when I was I the military, bought it before I left boot camp and had it for my while enlistment, it took a royal beating but didn't quit until the battery died

I scratched my Waveceptor a few days ago and I must admit, it hurts me more than the actual watch 😑
