Bund Love?!

If you haven't tried a Bund Strap, you should get on that!

Reasons;

1). Completely changes the look of your watch, especially a chrono or diver. Retro vibe and for a brief time you feel like Steve McQueen. ๐Ÿ

2) Really, really comfortable. The watch does not slip on your wrist. It looks bulky but doesn't wear bulky feels very secure on your wrist, no slippage and keeps the sweat off the back of your watch.

3) Accessibility to sizes, styles and prices are from 25 to $150. Most of your favorite watch strap suppliers now supply them. But there are some beautiful craftsman from Europe that make custom made and color choices available to whatever you can imagine.

When I was a child I found a childrens watch that one of the local rich kids lost. It had a a big old bund strap on it and it made it look cool. I tried to find the owner and couldn't so my dad placed a notice in the local shop and left it with them. 3 months later the watch came back unclaimed so it was mine. I still have it lol. The strap is long gone but it looks like I'm gonna get a new one now ! Thanks for the memories!

Ahhh, the memories. Great story, 'watchcrunching' is all about the connection.

I like a bund on military style watches. Not so much on other styles.

I bought a Vario bund strap and love it. Theyโ€™re great. And if Iโ€™m in a flaming cockpit or the depths of a volcano my watch wonโ€™t burn my wrist!

ยท

I was considering one for a bullhead I owned. I think they are cool with the right watch and look. But they are something special.

My wife would probably divorce me if I ever got one. She hates it and I don't really need a new wife at the moment as she still preforms good and are still under warranty ๐Ÿ˜œ I will probably not join the bund party.

ยท

I'm a bund lover. Currently have them on a Hamilton Khaki Field, a Citizen Red Arrows and a little Pobeda so quite

I never understood these and I hate how they look to me like dog collars. Sorry, I won't be converting today.

Appreciate checking the post and the opinion. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Some them are quite slim, and still the Steve McQueen feels...get the wife to watch LeMans, then maybe???

Definitely back you up on this.

I have a few watches that chill out in a bun strap. All 3 of your reasons are valid. Thank you for sharing!

Also a fan of the bund strap and agree with you completely

I agree with the points you made above about the bund strap. I wear it on my Oris ProPilot truly enhances my enjoyment of the watch.

ยท

Bund straps enjoyed a brief burst of popularity in the 70's. They may again since interest and fashion are cyclical.

ยท

Haven't considered since I get wet too often and think it would be a seldom used strap. The original 1959 Seiko Alpinist came on a bund ... so might give it a try for fun on my Ginza if I see a good deal on one.

Absolutely. I'm old enough to seeing a thousand things. Go from Old to New to Old and back to New again.... Like it's brand new to a whole new generation. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜•

To Fieldwalker.

I will give you the $million idea. Create a Bund strap that is made of nylon or of a wet suit, type material or some other synthetic. Then I can truly be used in the water and still look awesome. Money in the bank

They also help give smaller vintage watches more character and visual wrist presence. I'm a fan!

This last one I threaded a vintage bonclip style bracelet through a bund for a bit of a steam pink vibe.

I don't feel like I'm missing out either. But I still appreciate the look!!

Agreed. Vintage on Vintage looks great. Nice timepieces. ๐Ÿ’ช

ยท

I haven't tried these yet, but I will. I am somewhat ambivalent about the look, but I have been picking up some vintage watches of late, and apart from the matching vibe, the idea that a bund strap stops whatever dodgy metal they put in these old cases from touching my skin is rather appealing.

Can you send a link to one reputable from Europe I couldnโ€™t find any myself. Iโ€™ve been searching for quite some time. Thank you.

ยท

I love a bund strap and it can really enhance the look of a watch. I wear both my Junghans and my โ€˜Khaki Fieldโ€™ on bunds but you can always whip the bund piece off and use the strap alone if itโ€™s a bit warm. Great versatility ๐Ÿ‘

Here is 1. https://strapfreak.com/category/bund

Also Etsy has quite a few.

Cheap me ordered a cheap one on ebay and ... I got conned. ๐Ÿ˜ญ The listing claimed "genuine leather" [which can be horrible, I know], but it was not even that, just plastic. Probably not even PU, total trash. I would not even put my Moonbiffy on that monstrosity.๐Ÿ˜

I take those Ls on the chin, but leave negative reviews, for others to learn.
