So...what are you wearing on your wrist for this weekend?

The weather finally cleared up this morning, the sky is blue, the sun is shinning brightly, and SmallCat is getting very interested in the stupid birds that are chirping mindlessly around us.

It's truly a glorious morning.

I usually go for illegible watches on weekends because I'm not too concerned about being on time for anything and therefore I can wear whatever I like without being bothered with being unable to tell the exact time.

But today I decided that such a nice morning deserve an equally nice watch and therefore up on the wrist the Yema goes.

Image

I have to admit that I don't think that I'm being very original, since I'm sure that many of you shares, if not the same watch, than at least the same urge to wear "special" watches for the weekend.

Otherwise it would be very difficult to explain the fetish that reviewers have with this watch that you are supposedly able to put aside for the weekend and pick up once you have to go back to work. None of them ever explained why this is an important feature, but I can deduce that it mean that they hint that they have secret "weekend's watches" set aside.

The Superman doesn't have an extraordinary power reserve, in fact its YEMA2000 caliber is very similar to the ETA or SW and has the same 40 hours or something autonomy. It's also not a secret that I like it very much, especially once I paired it with the excellent grey "Mirage" MN strap from Erika's Originals.

Image

What it does have, and a lot of it, is undeniable charm and elegance. It's a watch that makes me realize how much fun can be had with collecting watches, because it's one of the very few collecting hobbies where we can take a stroll with our collection and enjoy it in public.

Even if it's only for the weekend.

Touché, my friend n well said indeed. 😊 Our definitions are just that, definitively redefinable n the fact that they are subjective actually made it more fun. 😁 I've recently acquired some straps n hence tried on this khaki green/grey one with my Orient Classic Commuter. So this shall be my watch for this weekend. 😊

Is SmallCat still allowed to go out to see the birds? If I remember correctly he had a fall right?

I restored his balcony privilege's after commissioning a glass extension to the balcony's rail. I cost me a pretty penny but it's very effective at keeping the idiot safe.

That is a good looking watch. Yama has gotten my attention lately with the new Superman micro rotor in house movement version.

These newer Supermans are actually very different, they are thinner, the dial layout is a bit different and they are all no date since the micro rotor caliber doesn't support (yet) a date complication.

Thanks for that information.

I will be spending a sizeable chunk of the weekend in a soft play for my son's birthday party, conditions akin to combat, so it's the Hamilton Khaki Mechanical on an Erika's Original. Pray for me.

Unpopular answer but today am going bare wristed. Its a lazy day and I figured why not, let me get some sun on ny wrist so I don't look like I'm wearing a wrist band from afar

Every time I see this it just keeps looking better!

Haven’t worn this in years. Tried leather straps over the bracelet in the past but it never felt “complete”, but now that I’ve got it on this fuss-free elastic I haven’t been able to take it off 😂

I think this represents the idea of all the potential adventures I will not actually participate in this weekend. But could! Maybe…

I love the way this watch looks, but I found that the date window is very useful to me, do you ever wish it had a date window?

I like a date complication and find it useful at work but admit I'd never really thought about it in reference to this watch which tends to be more of a weekend model for me. I thought maybe Hamilton had added a date to the new Expedition line but nope. Give the popularity of these models it is weird they don't offer a model with a date. Mind you, one of the things I love about the 39mm Mechanical is how slim it is. Don't think I'd trade the thinness for a date if I had to choose one over the other...
