I’m falling in love, but should I not?

Alright, before I pull the trigger what should I know, good and bad about squale? I love their case and dial designs and the heritage associated. I haven’t found anything else in all my research that just looks as beautiful. I’m either going with Squale, Rado, or Longines. Squale is at the top of my list. Is it a good pick?

Nice. I'd say go for it.

·

Squale for sure is a good pick. Id go for the blue, bead blasted version - but thats just personal preferences...

The heart wants what it wants, get it.

I love my Squale. I did have a false start with it due to a sticky movement but it was returned to my AD and they swapped it out for a new one. I’ve not had any issues second time around (touch wood).

This one is on a waterproof reated leather strap and it’s super comfortable to wear.

You will find quite a few people with strong opinions about the logo, but I love it.

Rado and Longines are probably in a higher tier than Squale, but I have no hesitation recommending them. Great watches!

What I find awkward in your first picture is that the minute hand is usually Orange and not the hour hand!? 🤷🏽‍♂️🤪

·

Very nice, tho I'd put Longings in a higher tier for sure. Maybe Radio too....

·

It's a brand for watch collectors. No one in real life's going to look at it and go, "OMG, A SQUALE!!!" Whereas thanks to the Jennifer Lawrence adverts, someone MIGHT say, "Hey, I know Longines..." So while Squale make excellent watches, you're playing in that area where only 'watch people' are going to get what you're wearing. And you might be OK with that. You might love that idea! Think of it as like wearing an expensive microbrand. You're doing it because you love the watch, not because it's a status symbol.

·

I like these personally, the newer version of the conquest, sort of an AT design ( if you don’t want a bezel ) I like the Squale too , but this is now definitely on my radar for a “ diver” / “ GADA watch

I love my Squale. It's got plenty of wrist presents it's very well made and best of all no one is going to ask "is it a Rolex" Good history and great value. Buy, buy, buy,!

Squale all the way, but I’m biased, because I own 2 and I have no experience with Rado or Longines. They are also family owned and run compared to the Swatch Group brands.

41 mm and 12 mm thick . L888 70 hours power reserve too …. And not too dear either ! Also a green and a coffee sunburst dial too !

I tried a vintage model and was not down with it. Ended up returning it. However I'm still a big fan of the 1521 line and think I will give Squale another shot with one of those models. You'll never know unless you own one!

What the hell?

Nothing negative discovered yet 👍

I too also LOVE the sub39 but I just worry about rather long lug to lug lengths

·

The 1521 Militaire caught my eye recently but I’m undecided because I already own a 1521 Ocean and a Sub-39. I’d prefer the crown at 3 on the 1521. What I don’t like is they can’t be bothered to deal with the paperwork for EU buyers and I end up having to deal with DHL or local customs. One is extortionate and the other inefficient.

·

I own a super Squale and I have nothing but good to say about the watch the quality is great for the price good solid movement that keeps very accurate time and a design that is timeless my only complaint is the clasp on the bracelet version of the super Squale they definitely cheaped out on that front but other than that but a Squale as soon as you can

I am a huge fan of Squale and have 16. It is a brand with heritage and good value for money. The 1521 is iconic IMO, wears more like a 40mm and has short lugs that angle down to give a comfortable fit. The Sub 39 is lovely but it wears more like a 40mm as the case is 39mm but the bezel overhangs. The Super Squale is an excellent choice for a smaller wrist........ a few of mine below.

Good luck with the decision.

I’ve got the same model, but in orange. Great watch, but like you, I had an issue with it (wouldn’t wind; potentially a bad rotor). It is off for warranty service now…

·

I’ve got a T183 that I really like. Had an issue with it after approximately 6 months of ownership. It is off for warranty service now, so can’t comment yet on how well Squale handles issues.

That's very interesting. I wonder if there was a production issue or if we were both just unlucky. Fingers crossed they sort you out quickly.
