Just ordered my first "luxury" watch...

I have been wearing watches my whole life, mostly Timex, Casios, and all that. But the past 2 years I have been wearing a Marathon General Purpose quartz and cant break the damn thing, I love a durable watch. I have never got myself to make the jump to a higher tier of watch making. I know $800 or so is a budget option for most but this is big for me! I would be happy someday with a 3 watch collection, a daily (this), a gold dress watch and something fun. But for now I plan to wear this everyday with no end in site. I was in between about 25 watches... but something about Serica drew me in (love their GMT, but nearly 2k is a but expensive for me), and as soon as this dropped it made the choice easy. Its simple, but the new case design is slightly more elegant than before, but it is still sporty and capable. I wish I didn't have to wait until January, but it is what it is. Cheers!

Thanks! And that’s the plan, stock up on some cool straps while I wait.

Very nice watch no ever the top bling looks solid

I just spent a modest amount on a Hamilton and I'm over the moon. Price doesn't matter, buy what you can and love it!!

Thank you!! And good luck with your next choices.

I've since sold it, but I had the original version of this and it was phenomenal. I couldn't think of a better first luxury piece as you'll really never need another (but obviously, will get many more, haha). I wouldn't buy too many straps, as I suspect you'll have a really hard time keeping this one off the Bonklip. Happy waiting!

·

Mate, don't put yourself down like that. The price of a watch isn't important. What is important is that it keeps accurate time and makes you smile. You've put some thought into this purchase and obviously love the watch. Enjoy and wear it in good health!

Beautiful! Congrats

·

Brilliant design, nice heritage story and not too expensive? Yes please! Love this one!

I appreciate that. Too much Reddit negativity, not enough watch crunch positivity. And it definitely checks those boxes!

Gorgeous looking timepiece! Post pics once you have it in hand. Jan, while it seems a long time away, will come around quickly.

Smart. I recently got a couple straps I’ve loved from Welsbro in leather and suede and Uncle Straps sold me a NATO I like a lot. I think CNS is a great option too as they’re just so damn affordable.

Agreed that Serica designs beautiful watches, and hope you enjoy yours!

If I recall, my own Serica also represented a significant reach for me, so I wanted to push back on your comment about "most" seeing $800 as a "budget" spend. I think we have a tendency to talk about our watches with an "Oh, this old thing?" tone on here. On WC particularly, there's an intentional effort made to be egalitarian, but just generally there's an instinct not to brag too much ... which maybe leads to extra humble-bragging. So you'll definitely see people be like, "Love my beater [$6,000 watch]!" That said, for each of those there seem to be many more who would see $800 as either nearing the top of their range (like me) or pushing uncomfortably past it.

A very good choice looks very nice and also nice to know someone out there in the same boat as me. I want a luxury watch eventually. I am up around the 30 watch range and for me personally I feel like it's getting out of hand. My issue is amount to spend and feel happy with that choice. I love my watches but, I also want to be able to say " This is it" and wear it all the time.. hopefully one day "The one" ( within reason) will speak to me. Until then the search continues. Enjoy my friend!

·

I love it!!! Enjoy it mate 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

·

Congratulations! Amazing choice. Serica is a super cool brand and their design language quite unique. I have the 4512 myself and it is my daily wearer. Enjoy! 😎

Handsome watches, but honestly it's the bracelet that seals the deal. Such a comfortable, no hassle design. Wish more brands used them!

·

Amazing choice. Coming from a guy wearing their previous field watch (4512) everyday since december 2021, i can attest to how these watches are made to be life companions. Congratulations!!!

·

Dope choice! The watch worth the wait !

·

That’s is an amazing watch, congratulations 🥳

·

I was very close to getting the 5303 but the movement issues pushed me to get a CW. I'm glad it did but I'm also glad that they are improving their watches as the designs look amazing and I would love to add one to the collection one day.

·

50 or 50k does not matter at all if the watch makes you feel good then it is a great watch. Watches that you get when you are on a budget sometimes mean far more than the ones that you get when you have no budget. Not that I have much experiencewith the second type. Lol enjoy the Hobbie enjoy your watch. By the way the one you chose looks great.
