There are lots of thoughts already going about the Ned Flanders Leftorium edition GMT. I haven’t seen as much discussion on the new and improved Air King released today.
Rolex has some beautiful Air Kings that are Explorer-dialed Oyster Perpetuals in its back catalog to draw from.
Before vs After. Given the opportunity to re-do the Air King, this is how Rolex’s design team fixed it…
So who is inclined to get on the waitlist to spend $7400 USD for this beauty?

Still the worst 36mm+ stainless watch they make to me.
Catching up on YouTube. Adrian from Bark & Jack: “It looks right. It feels right. I think Rolex elevated this watch... It’s still a lost watch, but it’s now a good looking lost watch… I think it’s cool now. I really quite like it.” 🤔

Eloquently put! My thoughts exactly 😂
I think they kind of missed an opportunity to fix it once and for all. Check out this render of a normal numeral system. I think it’s a million times better than either actual edition.
I Iove the new crown guards, it gives me vibes of the Sinn 556i. But if I want to have a nice watch with crown guards and a fixed bezel, I will go for the Sinn 🤣
For half the price of that AirKing you can also have the new super cool Black Bay Pro, a watch that has a way better looking dial than this one. I hate the dial on this watch, I've seen in real life, and still ugly. It's a watch that you either love or hate.
I quite like it, and even more now how triggered people are. I like to watch the world burn sometimes.
I’m not so fond of the Airking but I think all the new modifications worked in it’s favor.
I was a bit underwhelmed by this release - I feel the dial is still too busy though a vast improvement from the last one. I think this is a watch that could grow on me over time... with my biggest complaint being the colored logo and crown simply from an aesthetics issue. I reworked my own version in photoshop - just have gotten around to sharing on WC - but first thing I did was bring back the plain white 😂
Hodinkee’s Danny Milton finds it “shocking and bold”

I didn't hate it before; I like it now. I'm unlikely to buy it, but I like it.
I would buy get this…
At MSRP
meaning I’ll never get it. 🤣

I really don’t think there is much of a wait on Air Kings.

I've thought this for a while now - I think you're exactly right. Ditch the 3-6-9, and put in the normal numerals and it looks much better!
Those are lottery prizes you pay for if the AD doesn't back door them for a kick back to the grey market guys that triple their investments. Tudor is doing it right without diamonds and platinum. Those belong on the hand holding yours.
