Next Level 3 Watch Exercise in Horological Heuristics Hell

Inspired by @mjosamannen and @WatchYourIntruder’s posts, I wanted to take this 3 watch collection mental exercise to the next level. Because why not?!  It’s a rainy day and I’m kind of bored.

If you had to reduce your current collection down to 3 watches only, AND you could only keep ONE strap/bracelet for each timepiece, what would you chose?

Maybe I’m the only one so neurotic to think this could change peoples choices, but I know it sure could for me!

For the record, I don’t even know my answer yet. I’m still trying to figure it out.

Ah, a sequel👍

Even if I really like leather straps I have to, with my 3, go back to the steel bracelet for the Explorer, a rubber for the Seiko and the Reverso will keep it’s original leather strap.

Can I keep 3 watches with 20mm lug width and 3 straps?

·

Most boring answer; Sub, Daytona, and GO PanoMaticLunar on original bracelets/straps.

As long as the total is 3 watches and 3 straps that works!  Great idea!

I mean, boring often tends to equal purposeful. So it makes sense.

Slowly back away from bad guy who would have me abandon my babies

Back! Stay back! The power of Mt. Iwate and zaratsu compels you!

Puts a poster of GS watch to ward against this madness

This thread is making everyone reconsider their earlier answer.  I have to think on it now, if I can only have 1 strap for each.

Here, though, as we take our time thinking about our answers, is an example of what  can happen if you don't take the time to truly think before you speak...

If I can "cheat" and go with 3 watches that all have 20mm lug width.

  1. Christopher Ward C63 GMT
  2. Vintage Ghost Bezel Caravelle Sea Hunter
  3. Nomos Club Campus Future Orange

For the 3 straps

  1. Artem Black Sailcloth Strap
  2. Color 8 Shell Cordovan Velbenist Strap
  3. Artem NTTD NATO

All 3 straps can be worn with any of the watches. I would have liked to keep the bracelet for the Christopher Ward, but this would give me more versatility. All three watches can be fairly dressy on a leather strap, straddle the line on the sailcloth, or go casual on a NATO.

DOXA 750 on GGB Velcro

Seadweller 16600 on Erika's MN

Serica 4512 on the gray suede from my So Labs

·

JLC Master Geographic and Daytona on original bracelets.  Soko on original croc strap.

Soko is my dress watch, Daytona is the weekender.  And I guess the JLC is the beater?

That just feels super wrong

No I refuse to limit it to three.  It took too much budget stretching to get more than three great watches and I'm not going backwards.  I quit this game. I'm taking my watches and going home.

I already have an awesome duo for me, FXD and SBGA415, that it’s hard for me to add another watch. prolly a some sort of chrono or gmt in the future..

Easy for me in the strap department though as i’m not a fan of 3rd party leather straps and have never found 3rd party nato straps to be nice/fitting.

That is a solid duo. Some times I think if I had started with the Aqua Terra my collection would be much smaller.

I did start with a totally different perspective (Rolex FTW) until I experienced GS, so I share that sentiment.

I also wouldnt have wasted all of my time with other luxury divers if the FXD was released much earlier.

but all in good time :)
