Finally got my Neptune!

I’ve been thinking and plotting to pick up a Lorier Neptune IV for a while for two reasons. First, I am coveting a Black Bay 58, especially after trying one on at my AD, and thought a Neptune might deflect that need at least for a while. Second, this is a gorgeous watch from an interesting microbrand that only seems to improve.

This watch comes to me second hand from a seller on Reddit for the grand price of $290. The fit and finish is excellent. Bracelet feels a little light but has microadjust so that’s a wash.

If you like gilt Lorier has done a beautiful job with the dial. The hesalite crystal has lovely vintage distortion. My husband’s beater is a seiko 5 so I am already friends with polywatch and don’t mind some crystal polishing now and then.

Not sure if it will appease my BB yen yet but it’s definitely going to get a ton of wrist time. If I had paid over retail for it I think it would have been worth every penny.

Congratulations on a beautiful watch!

In all honesty, I think it looks better than the BB. And I’m not a Tudor hater. Quite the opposite.

You got a great deal! Congrats!

Congratulations! Amazing watch 👌

·

That is a great deal on an amazing watch. Lorier does good work. Congrats!

·

Good deal and GREAT watch..love my Lorier's. 🤘🏻🤙🏻🤜🏻

Very nice watch and great price. I had the same BB hunger and ended up buying an NTH Barracuda with the snowflake hands. Found it on Reddit also! Like the gilt as well.

I like the clean round minimalistic 60s style. The perfect pair with this would be a Timex Marlin 34mm dress watch.

·

You will not be disappointed. I love my Neptune

I’ve got a vintage 34mm grand seiko with a cream textured dial that’s a perfect match!

I see a lot of Lorier Neptune and Black Bay. It is a trend? I preferred Certina DS Action Diver, it have a date, but can't purchase it and send to my location.

I think both capture the neovintage diver feel that I love and they stand out at their respective price points. Certinas are lovely watches! Hope you find a way to get one.

Beautiful watch!

I think at the price you paid, that was a no-brainer to buy, and something to be very proud of. At the RRP of about $500 (?) I don't think one is getting ripped off by any means either, but I'd recommend slightly more caution, especially if that $500 could have been saved for something a little more pricey.

But $290? Pfffft, great buy.

I was on watch moratorium for buying but could not pass up such a deal! So much for willpower 🤣

Tell me about it. I was sitting on 8 watches after a cull, with the idea that only something very special would change that in the near- to mid-future. I went almost a year without buying any new watches, then a local AD here in Sydney got in some 43mm Luna Pilots (black dial, not the blue and white ones), and marked them down to the equivalent of US$350. How could I say no to that?! And boom, the drought was broken.

Nice to be in the company of fellow backsliders!

Considering that one myself. Glad to hear you like it. And you got a really good deal.

I want one of these but I have so many divers that I’m gonna for the Falcon. The Neptune is bad ass tho, congratulations.

It's my preferred way to wear this watch! Although, I do wear it on the Connery RAF strap from Goldfinger, leather, OEM bracelet, mesh and rubber to switch things up
