Dearest Crunchers:

I hope that this missive finds you well. It has been difficult keeping these One Watch Challenge participants on their toes. They seem to obsess over every jot that I write, so eager are they for the glory of being a 1WC champion. I don’t blame them, in all the watch world there is no title like that of the Champion of the One Watch Challenge. Past champions’ names and feats are legendary. Their watches, or facsimiles thereof, have been enshrined in the Watch Box of Destiny which @Max keeps in his desk drawer beside a copy of A Man and His Watch and a lock of @AndrewMorgan‘s hair.

We lost another this week as the Calculator Kid took his third and final asterisk. He will be wearing that plastic totem until the end of time. Alas, no Watch Box of Destiny for him. The others struggle on, each combating the ennui of fidelity to the flawed time piece of their choosing.

Before I go dear Crunchers, I leave you with a word search of my creation. I placed ten words in the search. Others were generated at random. They may be found on the horizonal, vertical, or diagonal, for that is how such puzzles work. Starting on Monday each participant shall incorporate one of the items listed in the word search into their WRUW photo. There can be no duplication. It must not be a photo or screenshot of the listed item. So, if the “The Thinker” is listed, someone must find a Rodin, but only one can do so. I will tell them when the rule ends.

Until the next time,

Aurelian

I'm soooo tempted to start finding words and phrases that are NOT supposed to be there......😈😁🤪

·

Not sure whether a #1wc challenge or a cipher from the Zodiac Killer.

We had it wrong all along.

Ted Cruz isn’t the Zodiac Killer, @Aurelian is.

I am concerned that FEET is in there on purpose. And TOE! And ASS. And another three letter body part.

There IS a word that could get someone banned if they chose to use that word for their pic. LOL

Wasn’t it Ted Cruz’s dad? His wrists do look like Cruz’s!

There are no three letter words in the official list. They don't count. If you run out here is the next list that can be used starting on Tuesday.

I don't know, after some of the posts I saw on here last night.... I thought I was on a different forum. "Watchcrunch, After Dark". 😂

Its been an honor. I think im looking forward to seeing all the nonsense and sweatshop work conditions from a different angle. Maybe I will see you next year. Best of luck to my competitors! 🫡

I think happiness is finding a new perfect strap.

I’ll throw caution to the wind and risk a clarification

  1. Can words can run in a backward direction? And from bottom running up?

  2. We post one word a day, everyday. Use second crossword for second day, … and third for third, and so on?

So now it's basically about posting WRUW as fast as possible after midnight Pacific Time to avoid being a duplicate/repost?

Doesn't this technically put those at an advantage who are ahead of pacific time. Once the date in your location is correct you can seek out found object, take a wrist shot and post it on the stroke of midnight. The people behind Pacfic time would have to wait for the correct date or else the wristshot would have been taken on the wrong date. Or does the WRUW have to be photographed after the new WRUW goes live.

😉 don't make the mistake of thinking #1WC contestants won't be racing to post the low hanging words first.

^This.

By the time I woke up (I'm on EDT), four of the seven of us had already posted, using statue, feet, toilet and forks, respectively -- i.e. everything that could be found in the home. @Aurelian has already made clear that he doesn't care about this issue.

He's being nice though. If I wanted you to race really hard I would have had the first person be a theme setter, then everybody must post the same in their WRUM image. 😏 if someone found something like "Horse" and has one next door you'd spend the day looking for one unless you can beat them to the post.

Look, some of us live in Canada.

If the first word was "Firearm" or "Rifle". WE ARE SCREWED.

We have to run to the American border.

Based on this information, I vote for the next puzzle to include the words "Palm Tree" and/or "coconut."

·

I vote for despair, existentialism, and the nuclear button to make an appearance, but I doubt that will happen either. Guess it’ll have to be spoons and whatever @Aurelian has in his fridge that evening.

Well, tomorrow I will not have posted that early. I had a farm issue that kept me up past 1am so I figured I would get a jump on it and post, but the wruw doesn't roll over until 2am for my timezone, so I will usually be in bed and therefore not as quick.

I will usually be at the far disadvantaged end of the time zones.

Yeah, I live in AZ so I’m even an hour behind you (since we don’t do daylight saving)! Just spend most of last week in Utah though!

That's awesome! Hopefully it was a great trip.

Yeah, the time zone thing can mess things up, especially when we are on dst and Arizona isn't. I just want the whole country to drop dst.

How about Wednesday's word search?

Are we supposed to reused the past 2 word searches? (Not the Zodiac Killer one godsh. That one requires all kinds of computer script)
