Hamilton intramatic chronograph auto. Is it worth it? Thoughts? Experience?

Hello crunchers! I’ve been wanting to add a chronograph in my collection, something with good history, design, movement for under $2k.. I looked around and this seems to be one of the go to’s.

I just love the design and looks of this watch, it’s been on my radar since last year but I put it on hold mainly because I’m waiting to find it for a good price. Do you have any experience with this watch? Any recommendations? Is it worth the money?

It's a beautiful watch and Hamilton puts out a great product.

Have you looked at any gray market sites like Ashford or Jomashop?

Most online AD's will likely offer a discount if you ask.

Jomashop has them in stock (they say) for 1558.

Well worth that price.

It is a nice watch if you can deal with normal movement noise. It’s gone up since I bought it, but used it can be had around $1100. New $1500 ish. Looks great, goes with almost anything and one of the better Chronos for that money. Could deal without the date, but that’s me.

I am a fan...not sure if it will be a long term keep, just because of other interests, but very happy with it for now!

If you want to purchase from an AD, remember that Macy's carries Hamilton. Just wait for a sale.

I'm super happy with mine ❤️‍🔥works on leather, works on simple natos, works on vintage straight link bracelets. Two of my "normal" friends say it's their favourite in my collection. Great watch

Chronographs are my favorite complication, and I have several in my collection. I consider the Hamilton Intramatic to be one of the best looking chronographs, but I've never had one in my collection, and probably will never add one. I use mine for timing all sorts of things, and prefer chronos that allow timing of events up to 12 hours in duration, but this one is limited to 30 minutes, which is one of the reasons. The other reason is that even though the contrasting sub dials are a large part of the visual aesthetic appeal, they make it difficult to read the time quickly at a glance. With that said, I'd probably still be tempted to pick one up if I ever stumbled across a great deal on one, based on the visual appeal.

Love the look of this chronograph. Two people I know have this watch and are very happy with it. Had I not bought my Hanhart pioneer 417 I’d have strongly considered this watch. (Glad I got the Harhart though, they do a panda version of the 417).

Good looking watch. I thought of buying one at one time.

Yeah you have options. I had this one but sold it as I am more of simple three hander guy. I do like the Hanhart panda though.

Absolutely worth it, it's been my daily wear since 2021. Goes with any strap and any outfit.
