Hello fellow time tellers! Figured my first post should be about my most important watch. This piece is not the first watch I've owned but it is the watch that changed my interest in design, the reason why my collection is the way it is today. This is my Seiko Perpetual Calendar 6m13 from the Age of Discovery line. My memory could be wrong but I believe they were produced in the late 90s in celebration of Columbus' discovery of the Americas. It's a quartz piece and to adjust it, you pull out the crown to move the hand (if you want to call it a hand) on the sub dial at 6 then push the related pushers around the case to set the desired time, day, date, year, and alarm. You can even look up previous dates but I haven't experimented that too much. I was on a hunt for a new piece, at the time I enjoyed whacky pieces, when I came upon this and immediately fell in love. It's non-symmetrical design and subtle nautical themes made it the most traditional looking piece compared to the rest but it opened a new door: what else can I find among these older pieces?? I found a love and appreciation for simpler dials and design choices when it came to the case and lugs, they carry a certain charm and elegance that I rarely get with modern pieces. That's how I found myself to be a mainly vintage collector. Sorry for the long post but I thought it would be interesting to share. I hope everyone has a lovely day🤗

Welcome to the Crunch! I really love this line from Seiko and this particular watch is gorgeous. It has those wonderful nautical vibes but also a bit steampunky… like how I imagined an alethiometer would look like out of the His Dark Materials series. Thanks for sharing! 🔥

Steampunk is not something I got but now that you mention it you're right! It would definitely fit in comfortably in a steampunk-themed party!
Sweet Jesus! You can wield that as a smart watch! Very interesting!
Loving that watch. Nice!
Cheers!

It's pretty close 😂
Nice one! I own the Age of Discovery 30th Anniversary Edition in green (SPL051P1) above so it is great to see the OG. It is an interesting complication that you do not see often with Seiko which is the main reason that drew me to it despite normally not really being my style.

That green is gorgeous!! I didn't know they did a reissue! And definitely agree with you, I dropped it off yesterday with my watch guy for a checkup and he said "I didn't know Seiko made this, it's an awesome piece!"
Very cool! I've been looking for a watch like this. A grand complication in quartz. Because can you imagine trying to set the time over and over again in an auto? You'd have to break out the manual.
Thanks I'm look it up.
Welcome to Watch Crunch and Enjoy! Very cool Seiko ! I am a true Seikofile!

Only the strongest of wills have grand complications in auto or mechanical haha! Glad to have inspired 🤗

Thanks! You can't have just one Seiko, truly it's their fault for making so many wonderful pieces!
