Birthday Watch

Will be celebrating my 40th birthday in a couple of months and wanted to reward myself with an Integrated bracelet (yes im one of those). Been considering two differently priced options : the IWC Ingenieur and the Vacheron Overseas. I adore both watches but I feel the Ingeniuer is overpriced for what it is. So my question to you, is it worth spending the extra money and stretching for a Vacheron Overseas?

·

Personally, I will take the VC everyday of the week and twice on Sunday!

·

Go for the VC.

·

VC all day

·

VC if the automatic IWC if not.

·

VC for me!

The real question is: why do you think Ingenieur is overpriced?

I get that the movement is similar to other, cheaper watches (including from IWC themselves). But movement is only a part of the watch. Supposedly the watch is built with soft iron, including the dial, and still manages a texture on said dial (usual textual are applied to brass, which is softer and easier to manipulate). That has to be worth something. I can't speak of the finishing and overall feel of the watch, given that I have no money for it, but that, too, costs quite a bit to get right.

Furthermore, Ingenieur is a true Genta watch, looking the part also. Overseas is very not within that halo breed.

Now, we here in WC all spend your money, and the Overseas costs more, so we would really appreciate your wrist shot whenever that arrives. Personally, given the cost of both, I would advice trying them out. Don't worry too much about the movement in the Ingenieur, frankly. I am sure it's just as accurate (if you want a really accurate watch, buy a Citizen). Just try and see, because we really feel that money burning in your pocket 😜

Love the VC but their is a five year wait for the overseas blue dial

·

I am 100% in favour of the Octo in this discussion.

I absolutely love both watches, but you cant compare VC to IWC. Different leagues. If you can swing for the VC, than it's a no brainer

What can one do with the money saved? Buy another watch of course!

Didn't mention anything about the movement and I do really love the IWC was just asking if the VC is worth the extra stretch. 🙏

The wait is much shorter at my AD. Besides the overseas are currently selling lower than retail on the grey market. You'll be surprised how the market has changed.

Don't know if that's... entirely true.

Look, in a vacuum, you are absolutely correct. But we ain't in a vacuum. VC costs between 2 & 3 times of IWC. It's like you can buy half the lineup of Richmond with the same money (yes yes, I exaggerate; but if you just choose some humbler companies, you can probably buy their entire line up with VC money).

The Grail Watch vs The Crowd. I prefer the crowd myself, given that i would then get to experience much more.

And again, not like iwc is bad or anytime.

Why, then, do you think Ingenieur is overpriced? You know what they say, curiosity kills the cat.
