That was my first time there. It was nice, but I agree with you. From now on I'm going mostly grey for what I want. I did the whole "AD Experience" with my GMT Master II, and that was jumping through hoops and buying stuff. I understand that brands want you to "buy" in, but this AD nonsense is stupid. I'd still buy from the Omega, Tudor, and Grand Seiko boutiques. If I'm going upstream Rolex +, grey it shall be.
I'd also add something my dad told me. When I was buying my Harley Davidson, I couldn't choose between two similar models. I was looking at it quite analytically which is my natural inclination. He said, "Son, which one will make you smile every time you ride it?" I chose the right one and I did indeed smile for many many years.
Moral of the story, choose the one that makes you smile every time you wear it.
