Ball Watches

Not sure if there's a lot of Ball watch lovers out there. My 1st swiss watch is a Ball watch and subsequently got this limited edition diver pretty much on the spot. Unfortunately, in my country (and in my opinion) generally watch collectors are snobbish and elitist. Ball is kind of an unwanted brand here. Personnally, i still find the tritium tech very intriguing and far better than super luminova (though i have super luminova in other watches). Any Ball watch fans here ? Hope to hear from you, your stories and of course, your watch :)

I like their railmaster using the traditional railroad dial, but I just wish it didn’t have a date. It ruins the flow of the dial IMHO.

Very historical company. They kind of put all their eggs in one basket re their use of gas tubes for lime however I have been looking a lot at them lately and I can see far more variety, their profile is not as high as it should be I think.

Love it

I’m a big fan of Ball. The company was created in my home state and I would love to pick one up some day. The biggest thing I struggle with is their website and availability, but I generally like to try one on before I buy.

If I'm not wrong, my first Ball watch is a railmaster. It had a date window too. At that point, i was in a very early stage of my watch game, don't have much experience and knowledge to talk with. My taste wasn't very developed too. As of now, i prefer watches without date window too. If someone were to sell me the same watch now, i might not have bought the watch. But funny thing is, being through that journey with the piece, makes it feels a little more special to me.

I love their watches and may look their way next time I’m buying.

Yeah. My opinion is their design cues with roots to the rails road is hurting them in the term of popularity, though holding on their heritage. But yeah, objectively speaking the watches are actually very robust and good value.

Yeah, i've heard some issues with their availability (probably through the website, not sure though). But as we all know, with watches it is better to try it in person first. I have watches that i liked a lot on websites but disappointed when i see it in person and vice versa. I got mine through local AD.

I like what they are doing tech wise (titanium, day/date/GMT, tritium), They are a great value. They have a great history. For some reason their designs just don’t speak to me. I think it might be an age thing, they look like a younger man’s watch to me and I am not a younger man. Congrats on the new watch!

·

I quite like them and almost purchased one.

If they were priced a bit lower like Christopher Ward they’d be a lot more popular

·

I'm a huge fan of their tritium lume and the overall design of there dials in particular, had my eyes on them for a while now.

·

There is no question that they are the premium luxury tritium tube watch! Of course, that position comes with the premium price tag, and I think that may be what partially hurts the brand’s popularity. I don’t think this is a case of snobbishness hurting it as much as just not as great popularity. I had their green beret watch for sometime and really enjoyed it, but I moved on to other time pieces. I would happily recommend this brand to anyone, especially if you were looking for a one watch collection that fits all needs. Many of their models have a dressy look that is counterintuitive to the wonderful utilitarian functionality underneath.

I used to have one and I'll probably get another next year.

I had one, it was built like a tank, but just heavy and in the rubber would shift to the side and was a bit cumbersome to wear, but it was a really nice watch. I had the orange diver with inner rotating bezel. This was probably 13 or so years ago. I’ve entertained another, but just need them to go on a diet.

I like the Engineer III- 904 steel, tritium, COSC, and the date window works for these increasingly lousy eyes 👀😀

I’m a big Ball fan too 😄

Ball is life, or so the kids say.

Ball is still a very loved watch brand. well priced for the quality and craftsmanship, and a great history to go with it. though i have many watches, i find myself wearing this engineer hydrocarbon more than the other watches.

Remember the point for watch collecting is to enjoy wearing them!

My top 3 thoughts on ball having owned 1 and tried on many:

  1. Tritium tubes are really fun, and I prefer to luminova in practice

  2. Quality is there: Very rugged, very well made, well finished, and mine was 0 to +2 accuracy w/o cosc cert

  3. Better in person than in pics, but some of their designs are just weird; that + the name kind of hold them back from Sinn like status

Point 3 is well said. I agree 100%. When people hear the brand name, they almost seem to cringe.

I’m a Ball watch fan. I own a Marvelight Engineer M. The brand is so underrated. Tremendous value

My first Swiss watch was a titanum ball trainmaster gmt and I love it. To this day it stands tall in my collection. Great finishing, quality build, and the gas tubes are fun and actually very useful.

Yes, unlike super luminova which fades over time (maybe an hr or less, not sure as i hasn't test it out) but in an actual night use, albeit not much, it is much better.

Ball is a cool brand. I really like their Engineer III Outlier.

I’ve ordered a Roadmaster . Am I going to be impressed with the lume ?

I'd say if you're used to superluminova, short answer: yes. Because it would not fade over time (not literally though because after 10-20 years it would still fade but not the 30 min superluminova does) Tritium is constant illuminating

I have ordered a Roadmaster vanguard (delivery April !!). I’m really hoping the lume lives up to expectations . I tried a luminox . Dissappointed , can only see in absolute pitch black

Anyone want to buy a luminox ?
